steelies are only good when banded, otherwise theyre best for using as big plant pots

the plan was to use them on the road as they had good (legal) tyres. and keep the montys for track with decent tyres

288mm Brakes require 16" wheels

Mk3 VR is 288mm and 15"s will fit over, is the offset different then

312mm needs a minimum of 16", I am sure 15"s will fit over the smaller brakes.

Im running mk3 gti alloys whilst i strip and polish my tt comps and buy a new set of tyres  ready for the nicer weather aka no salt on the roads!

15 inch rims  with 50 profile tyres look stupid on the mk4 but they are function not form!

Tiny wheels on a tdi130 is funny in the wet, you can't boot it any where!

Plus side you could hide watermelons in the arches if you wanted to   :undecided:
