Title: Daily mpg figures.
Post by: Big Tone on 30 October 2011, 14:23
What do you think to using this thread to post mpg figures and distances travelled.

Maybe a bit gay, but I would like to see how mine compares as it had dropped lately, no codes, tyres ok, no added weight etc.

Today, 35miles _ 35.6mpg steady driving at 70...ish

10 mile commute to work 50/50 (carriageway/town) driving I typically see 35-37 mpg.

A proper long run on motorways I still get 40 mpg on the screen, 45 if I take it real steady.

is that the short term average at the end of the trip? i.e did you zero it before you set off?

If you want to monitor your fuel usage then I'd recommend using Fuelly:

http://www.fuelly.com (http://www.fuelly.com)

I've been using it for a little over a week:

Yup, single trip reading, motorways, only ever returned 41/42 max, never 45!!!!

Fook me, where to start looking?

In that case, sign up to the website add other 1,8T driving forum members as friends and you'll have accurate fuel consumption comparisons rather than the bullsh!t figures you get from the clocks

My MFA reading hasn't dropped below 36mpg over the last couple of hundred miles, yet as you'll be able see my true mpg is circa 32.5mpg

85mpg at 50mpg over 18 miles behind a tanker in sixth gear in a tdi130.
Normal mpg: fun 38, town 42, motorway 54 and chilled motorway 65.

Now its winter Im sure it will drop but keeping up on  the service helps.

1999 Standard AGU
Freshly rebuild 4k ago

1275 miles average has been 27.1MPG..
That's About 200 on motorways/heathrow etc..
Rest is around town mostly to work 3/4 miles to work and back.
80-90mph barley gets barley 30mpg but 70( just under 3k) gets around 35-37mpg very rubbish  gearing.

Its actually been getting better depite it getting colder.. Think its due to the tigth engine bedding in? dunno
