Title: rc flying
Post by: jamie16v on 28 October 2011, 22:55
anyone here into radio controlled flying?. perhaps an anorack hobby but i`ve just found and interest in it.. ive bought four helicopters in the last six months, crashed one to death and the other three i havent found time to fly and one i have just finished building..
i`m not talking the cheapy coaxial helicopters you buy in your local chappy bargain store, i bought one of them at first (call it number 5) it stopped working after a week..
i`m not rich so cant really afford the Align models so settle for the clones which are pretty much spot on for the money.
anyone here share the interest?

used to fly rc planes.. mostly electric 3d (aerobatic models) also had a ic plane.. was great fun only reason i left was because i didnt drive and had no way of getting planes to airfield.. great fun and its come along a long way in past couple of years.. i will be back when funding allows and will be pure elelctric.. i knew a few people with 20% scale electric planes and they were great.. only bit of advice ive got is join the BMFA as it gives you insurance incase you hit someone lol

lol.. no i dont have an airwolf or a bell.. i was looking into going into scale, didnt know wether to do it with my 450 or 500 size, i havent built the 450 yet so was thinkingi could go scale with that, it would also be cheaper to do on a smaller model..
i was thinking of going for eurocopter ec-135 as its what most the emegency services use.. i think its an awesome heli.
i will be joining the bmfa with the local club when i join in spring.. i dont see the point in joining this side of winter, it makes no economical sense

I always wanted the Airwolf version. Saw one which had retractable guns and ADF pod but can't recall if it was just something someone had customised.

I was always into nitro cars. Sold the last one earlier on in the year, a hpi savage x monster truck. Used to go and see the grandparents every Sunday, and the local rc club used to meet at the field behind with their planes/choppers. From what I gathered the choppers were much more difficult to fly, and obviously alot more unforgiving if anything failed whilst in the air. The servos on the planes would reset and they would glide down, but saw a couple of the choppers drop like lead balloons and end up in a million gazillion pieces!
