Quick question
Mine arrived today, in the packet was a small packet of grease.
Where does need to be applied please or is it better to fit it dry.

was gonna use the grease but then saw that it was for the threads and not the actual bush

You apply the copper grease around where the bush makes contact with the dog bone mount. There are 2 bushes which can be changed on the dog bone mount; one on each end. If your changing the end that bolts onto the gearbox then be sure to install the bush before you install the metal crush tube.

If your installing the bushes for the other end, the one that bolts to the subframe then just clean out the cavity inside the dog bone which houses the bush and then apply the grease inside there.
Hope all goes well, think you should like the solid feel afterwards. It will transmit more vibration into the cabin but some people use a part of their original bush and another part of the poly bush for the best compromise.

The smaller one is as cheap if not cheaper than the larger bushes on the other end and I didn't find it transmit much more vibration into the cabin compared to having just the large bushes fitted (I fitted both powerflex bushes on the subframe end of the dog bone mount and fitted the smaller super pro one on a later date). So the way I see it is if vibration is something that anyone is concerned about then it is a good idea to do the smaller one, especially if you are only going to change one of the two bushes on the subframe end, I like to think this would be a nice compromise.
In terms of how well the smaller bush performs I would say it is definitely noticeable, although less of a difference when compared with the bushes on the subframe end. I am not sure I would recommend anyone replaces all the bushes especially if they do alot of city driving. After changing all the bushes I now get alot of vibration in the cabin and steering wheel which gets worse when you revv the engine when sitting idle. My golf is pretty much a track car so it doesn't bother me much but on the odd occassion I have had to drive into the city I have felt my patience running out.
I will be sure to get a video of just how much vibration one can expect from using the same bush setup as mine (both parts of the powerflex bushes on the subframe end and super pro on the gearbox end) so that everyone can make a more informed choice when deciding what to buy.

recently had mine done,now sounds like there's a couple of nails rolling around in the ashtray in front of the gear stick at low rev's,but im having a newer box put in next month so i'll see if there's anything the garage can do to lessen the vibe's,tho if not i can live with it i guess.

Ive polybushed all mine, and dont honestly feel that much difference.
Ive done;
Wishbone front
Wishbone rear
Anti roll bar
Dog bone mount (both)
Just got engine mounts to do, will be fr3 ones..

Should have really tightened up the engine movement with the new dog bone bushes, I got loads more vibration with it too and a much better gear change at WOT with less engine rock. My poly wishbone bushes was very noticeable - even my passengers noticed without me pointing it out, it definitely keeps the front more composed on entry of corner and it's more solid over bumps. As for the antiroll bar I find the front one isn't as crucial as the rear one on our cars, I suppose it depends on how you like the car setup, but I found the rear antiroll bar to be a good mod.

The THS engine mounts make a MASSVE difference :wink:
