fogs only work when the front lights are on so im guessing they connect to the light switch, the fog switch and the fuse box?

I would just run a (-) directly to one terminal of the fogs then a (+) to the switch with an 'In-Line' fuse or something similar?

A basic bulb loom with a switch and fuse if your with me

You can get the connectors from the scrappy. Bumper indicator plugs can fit

Just recieved my loom yesterday, not installed it yet but from my original thread about fitting foglights (you might want to check it)......

There is apparently a connection for the front fog lights already in the golf located under the expansion tank. The loom i have recieved bears out this so it should all just fit together when i get round to sorting this tomorrow.

No wiring, just plug and play  - love it

Just checked under my bonnet and the connector is a white plastic one at the back of the engine bay on the right underneath your water expansion tank. Corresponds perfectly with the loom i had delivered. Hope this helps

HAHA right - note to newbies like myself - Make sure you check your facts before posting them!!!

Well Mr Sellers... I was all excited about finding WHAT I THOUGHT was the right connector only to get home and check and find it was not, by a mile!!!

The actual connector is right at the back coming through the bulk head, is white plastic, small and two connectors to marry perfectly with your loom connector. Took me ten minutes to find the little bugger though!

Also check to make sure you have a fuse in the foglights fuse thing (6th from the left), i didn't have one in there and spent another ten mins with a multimeter wondering if my loom was faulty. Stuck a fuse in and away they shone. (10amp)  I assume cars that originally came without front fogs had no fuse as they didn't need one.

Hopefully this will actually be help now rather than hinderance!!

Ah! didn't realise it was a driver...  not worked on one so i am not sure. If its the same as the gti then by my understanding you already have a connector for the front fogs under the expansion tank but you need a loom to get from the connector to the lamps. Like the one that i have just got and works a treat.

Have a look for the plug and check it with a multimeter to make sure. If not then hmmmmm......

just looked now and i have one white connector under the expansion tank area, an di have tested it on the multimeter and sure enough it switches on with the fogs, is it only one connector that i need to find or is there one for the other side

Sweet! yep that one connector is all you need. The loom plugs in and has two wires leading off to the respective fogs.

With one eye on the weather i think i am going to attempt putting mine in tomorrow. Wish me luck...!!
