I am thinking of getting some old Passat roof rails and cutting them down to fit onto a Golf. has anyone done this before?
Estate owners, are there special mouldings in the head lining to accommodate the rails? Could some one post a few pics of their rails for me and what the head lining looks like where the feet are bolted through the roof?
Regards
Jon

You have to pull out the headlining and there are holes ready for the bolts to go through.
The hatches might have these already I don't know...
Would be easier/cheaper/better looking to go uni fit.

Alright mate I took my bars off to spray my roof theres 3 mounting points that you get to from inside the car ( not sure if the normal mk3s ive them) would defiantly look good if it was done though. What exactly do you want pictures of? Ill get some when I get home from work.

Thanks mate I think it would look good to. Would like pics of the head lining directly under where the bars mount to the roof. It's just to see if the roof lining is moulded in any way to deal with where the mounting bolts sit internally.
I feel strange, whilst everyone else is lowering theirs I am trying to add height. It must be because I am old.....
