Had it scanned. sounds like the problem i have. mines the maf.
lukily for you i think the mafs cheeper on the 1.4.
-
ok bud ill check it out :)
-
isnt it a MAP sensor on the 1.4?
-
Clean throttle body
-
ok on these are they self adjusting when you put them back on just start up and leave to idle? and will reset its self? cheers
-
If its a cable operated TB, then it will reset itself after about 100 miles, if its the other (electronic TB) then I think you need to re-align it with Vag-com.
-
and before you ask, you need the full version of vag-com (vcds) to be able to re-align
-
lol ok so you no there defo electric? lol
-
my 1.4 did the exact same thing when i stopped at traffic lights the revs would drop them jump up then drop so low it would cut out, paid £10 for garage to clean throttle body and it never did it again, you can do this yourself theres a guide on how to do it on here but for £10 i just got garage to do it. that would be first thing id advise you to try
-
yeah im 98% sure its electronic. you may not have to realign, it may sort its self out after a few miles.
-
ok i may give that a go then ill try it lolo so you would say more so thn a maf?
-
I would say clean tb first. it doesent cost as much as a maf sensor :D
i was initially thinking tb but then thought well i know mines down to the maf and having the same problems so thought ide mention that.
-
yh kl cheers bud :)

Rule No1 when problem solving, start with the cheapest 1st.

Hey guys i cleaned the throttle body and she is perfect :) The throttle valve was black as ya hat. There was no need to use vagcom just left ignition on in position 2 for about 3 mins and then run her up at idle for a good 10 mins and she is smooooooooth :) cheers guys

The 1.4 doesnt have a MAF. It also came with the cable and electronic throttle body.
They do suffer from dirty throttle bodies though.

Yarppp thts right bud :)
