Well as many of you know I had my German Shepherd put to sleep last year after having her for nearly 12 years. It was made a bit easier due to me having a 2 year old Bullmastiff. Well a few weeks ago she suddenly lost the use of her rear leg and now it is spreading, it is known as CDRM, basically severe nerve damage that results in paralysis. I spoke to my vet last week and she said that it is now time for her sake to be put to sleep due to her not being able to move her rear legs thus dragging herself across the floor. Tomorrow she is going to the vets to be put to sleep at the age of 3 years and 2 months. I feel horrible, I am on my laptop here with my Bullmastiff laying on her bed beside me, so very sad, such a lovely dog who loves everyone and every dog she meets, she has never even growled, not a bad bone in her body
As Agreeable Slick knows.....I love my dogs and he was fantastic last year with great supportive PM's when my Shepherd was put to sleep.
Here are some pics......

poor doggy :( but its for the best! its not nice to loose a best friend.
hope you and your family are all ok

Sorry to hear mate, sad times indeed. Try and make her last 12 or so hours the best so she can rest in peace. Give her all the love and attention she wants and more and try not to think about tomorrow, dogs are great at reading body language and feelings so keep positive and cheerful.

Shepherds, well are just a fantastic breed. I was in a bad way when my Shepherd was put to sleep. People think I am a tough guy due to being into bodybuilding, martial arts, doing doorwork.....I am 6ft, nearly 17st yet none of this stops the pain.....My throat is killing me at the moment, I feel like I have swallowed a brick......I am such a huge softie when it comes to animals.

All the best mate.

Feel for you, had mine put to sleep a few years back now but it was probably one of the worse times of my life. I was going to give it a year before I got another but 5 months later another chocolate labrador joined the family and made life seem good again.
Hope you can remember the good and happy times you all spent together and know that your dog is now at peace.
All the best.

Feel for you mate!

Sad times, hope you pull through.
