Title: Anyone else having issues with the 'D' valves ?
Post by: RTechUK on 25 October 2011, 20:05
I have had a Mk5 2.0Tfsi in for a stage 2 custom remap since monday.

Maxed the load maps out and the N75DC at 95% and only managed 240bhp-300lbft. :ashamed:

It was found that the 8 month old 'D' revision was not holding the boost back, and allowing the boost to bleed of back into the compressor housing on the inlet side.  New DV fitted and making a healthy 267bhp-307lbft so far.. :happy2:  But still getting high DC from the N75,  but that my job for tomorrow and fingers corssed its not a cracked turbine housing or I have just maxed the turbo flow?

I thought these 'D' valves where the best version??  It seems the plastic neck has worn and is now allowing the boost to pass by the black seal ring.

Anyone else having issues with the 'D' ?

I thought I would  smoke test the old unit  and this is what I found.

Fingers crossed its an one off, I have tested all 5 BNIB units we have in stock, And from now on I all be checking everyTFSI DV which comes in ot just the rubber versions.  The only way to test it is by getting my lips around it and blowing... I am bidding on a used K03 turbo on ebay so I can make a mock smoke/pressure test bed.

We fitted a new D valve to a A3 Tfsi two weeks ago, while it was back in for mapping I thought I would test the new D valve, during logging we found the turbo having to work harder to make the stage 2 power compared to two weeks back.

I have some of the older G valves comming from Germany and should be here tomorrow, I know the G also has issues with the rubber splitting but I need to prove the D is leaking under load.

sounds like the 1.8T N75 valves all over again...

The E I got in replacement for that knackered one I had last time I came up to you leaked straight away, VW really need to be a better on their quality checks
