Title: lowering and wheel spacing
Post by: clgale88 on 24 October 2011, 22:44
just brought my 1st golf mk3 gti but it seriously needs slamming. im going to keep the standard wheels and tyres on it for now what are 205/50/15s i also want to space it so wheels are flush but how much can i space it with these wheels and tyres on and being fairly low to the arch?

Flush, basicaly having the wheel at et of 0, with the standard wheels you'd need around a 35mm spacer as think the standard et is 35 (could be wrong) you won't get this with big tyres or without arch work though.

ah ok may just space it 10mm and slam it until i get a set of wheels after the winter

23mm spacers on the rear and 18mm spacers on the front, that will bring standard wheels flush to the arch like so:

Switch to 195/50/15's will give you more room.

Feck off! The lad who bought it off me popped round on Sat to pick up a spare splitter I had for it....he's got it booked in for a full respray in January and hopes to drop a VR6 in shortly after

He's already signed up on here somewhere but will start a dub rides when it's back from paint, he's hooked and those are his own words not mine....at least it's gone to a good home

Yup, seeing it reminded me why I got rid of it though....it was getting a bit tatty around the edges, rust starting to show more & more, the gearbox mount snapped a couple of weeks ago etc.

As soon as I've paid off the Mk4 I'll pick up another MK3 as a project I reckon

Mk3's are cooler IMHO.

Really, I don't think so, early mk2 valver in monza blue would be my choice, mk3 is more modern but lacks any real soul.

They're totally different cars really...

I've had most Mks of golf now and PERSONALLY my favourites are the Mk1 and Mk3.

I couldn't tell you why...

My dream car is a RHD mk2 rallye with a Boosted R32

But I honestly like the mk3 more than mk1, mk2 and mk4. I love mk5/6 though  :lipsrsealed:

what was this thread about???
