My golf won't start after going through a puddle, no spark at the plugs. I have spark out of the coil when I put that lead to the head.
So far I've:
Replaced distributor
Searched for some info and;
Timed crank / cam
Timed dizzy
It's not long had a crank angle sensor.
What else should I look for? Need to get it going ASAP as I've no transpose atm.
Cheers :)

Best is to plug into vagcom and scan for faults. It'll tell you if it's a sensor that's faulty.
-
try the ecu relay number 30 ,, when you turn key can you here it ?
-
There's no vagcom on the island that I know of but I own a snap on ethos and it was showing no codes, however now I can't get any communication.
Relay seems to be clicking...
-
Just got communication.
Intermittent engine start blocked by immobilizer
And
Intermittent hall sender signal out of tolerance
Now I can't get communication again

I think the water has messed the hall sensor then, so it won't fire up. Don't know why the immobilizer would come on after a water incident, but maybe water got into the ECU?
-
Thing is I've put a tested distributor assy in, with hall sender etc. I'll take the ecu out and check for water ingress...
-
Check the hall sensor plug too, there may be water there shorting it out.
-
The coil is sparking underneath. Is this f**ked?
-
Got it running with new coil & leads but the hall senders in both the dizzys are gone.
-
Coil shouldn't arc anywhere, so glad you've got a new coil.
With regards to both distributors having bad hall senders, check the wiring as it may be that rather than the hall senders themselves. It'd be unlucky to have two faulty ones especially if one of them is new. Get WD40 and spray it inside the hall sender plug.
-
Its not new just meant to be good. I'll get a new hall sender at some point, main thing is its running and I can get about. The trials bike was far too cold on the early run to work, lack of lights doesnt help either :)
Thanks for the help guys :)
