Title: mk2 shocks/springs on a mk3
Post by: Diluxe on 20 October 2011, 05:40
I had a low mileage eibach/koni setup from my old mk2 16v that I scrapped, the old dears mk3 cl needs new shocks up front , i know the springs rate etc will be different but what do I need  to allow me to use my mk2 stuff?

I think all you need to do is change the front top mounts and spring plates.

is the spring plate the one that stops the shock falling through or coming up ?

Yeah you  just need early mk3 top spring plates, slotted nut, washer, and top mount, which is same as mk2, as I did this recently and used g60 top mounts.. :)

if the mk3 is pre mid 95 then it will use the same top plates and mounts (it's the pig tail that changed, I think later are 65mm and early mk3/mk2 are 80mm)

later type with the smaller sping plates...new plates (a few ££ from gsf/ecp or even vw) and top mounts will be ok (although while it's off I would swap them for new one's from a vr6)
