Hi everyone, I'm a day away from possibly picking up a J Reg 8v. I looked at it on Monday, everything is absolutaly pristine and perfect; put down a deposit and I'm collecting it tommorow. Obviously I'm like a kid at Christmas though, and in the mean time every nightmare scenario of what could go wrong has been coming into my head. So my question is...
The car is a J plate Golf GTI 8v(yeah i know, should've got the 16v!) but I dont think it had electric windows or power steering. Neither of these things particularly bother me, but I'm somehow under the impression that later model MK2's all had power steering and electric windows. Is this the case? Any advice would be appreciated, and hopefully all being well I can come back tommorow night as a proud new owner!
Cheers

spec's can vary. just because your car is a J reg doesnt neccesarily means its a late 92 run out model. it could have been a 91 thats been sitting before being 1st registered in 1992
only thing id do is do an HPI check on the car and make sure its all 100% legit

thanks for that mate, i think i will do. When I got an isurance quote on confused.com and typed in the reg plate it came up it searches the DVLA and came up with the right car, right spec, right year etc...so not sure if that makes any difference. Just really need to find out what the criteria were for getting power steering and electric windows etc...

there where always optional extra's on 8v's
it was only 16v's that had them as standard (apart from 1990 when they where optional also on 16v's)
late 8v run outs would also have rainbow interior, and also the 16v half tint rear lenses along with pas and electric windows if that helps any

I was fairly certain that only 16v's came with the half tints, no matter what age the 8v's they always came with standard coloured lenses.
