Title: GTi Tdi performance modification options?
Post by: Jimbo84 on 18 October 2011, 16:21
I have a GTI TDI 150 which has been recently serviced at VW

I have had it remapped

What other reasonably affordable things could i do to improve its performance? (Responsiveness, Economy, etc)

Grateful for your views

James

Ive got a miltek decat pipe then a standard system from that. Need a reducer though to fit it to the standard system. Now im playing with removing my back box, turbo spools up quicker but not liking the noisy exhaust lol. So im going to mod the rear silencer

I won the decat on ebay for £62 :)

Think the lamba sensor must be on the manifold on my 130 as there wasnt one on the exhaust when i swapped it over.

well i got a pd 115 but it going to be remapped next month so wanted to get it sorted i would need same exhaust as yours then i dont no wether to get a full miltek and can you get the owl noise out of a tdi or is that just on 1.8t

I get the owl noise with decat and standard exhaust. If you have OR put a resonator in the system youll lose the owl noise so just go for one with a rear silencer but no centre resonator.

Get it lowered mate! I fitted some lowering springs and shocks last week. Night and day difference. Much more fun to drive, handles great. I also put in a stiffer dog bone mount too, feeling the vibrations in the cab but the gear changes are crisp!

Ive got a Miltek back box and the next section from the back box is also miltek.I had mine de-cated a while back By a local firm called RJ performance he simply cut the cat off and welded a new s/s section in mine isnt loud at all and it dont make no owl type sound although I wouldnt mind if it did  Im thinking of having a remap myself my own car is a 115bhp model.
