Does anyone know if the Edition 35 gear knob and gaiter will fit a standard GTI and if its available to order from the dealer, is so how much and whats the part number, thanks
Ive seen a couple of pics and think it looks great, doesnt look like there is and 35 markings on it, just red stitching and a golf ball type gear knob, whould be a good replacement part.

I expect it will fit as the edition 30 one does and they would not have changed anything on the shaft.
They won't be cheap from the dealers as the edition 30 one was/is expensive ~£130 iirc

That's my Ed30 knob (actually mine!) and it cost £180 inc VAT with a discount from the main dealer.
I love it.

I think it might be cheaper as it looks it. Appears to be made from silvered plastic with part of a golf ball attached. :undecided:
The Ed30 knob has a machined metal ring + a leather golf ball, is beautifully made and pretty substantial.

About the same retail price as an ED30 knob then.
The ED30 one looks better, Asker has hit the nail on the head.

Basically, the Ed35 thingy is a standard one with a bit of dimpled rubber stuck up its backside. No wonder thay are the same price. Very cheap looking due to cheap materials. The standard one is way better in this case.
Now, the Ed30 one is composed of machined metal and leather and it is in another league to that Ed35 rubbish.

I hadnt seen such a close up picture of the ED35 manaul one, it looks abit to much like my standard one.
The main reason i was looking is my GTI one is really scratched and tatty looking, think the last owner must have worn diamond rings on every finger.
I might have to go for an ED30 now

My ex-wife has scratched to buggery the insides of the Mercedes as she still wears all the diamond rings I gave her. When she wished to drive my GTI, I told her it would be a no no unless she removed her rings and bangles. She responded that if she did remove them, I'd take them away. She therfore decided it was not worth driving the GTI! The cheek of it. Anyway, I drive the Merc through the rough areas of London. It might as well get scratched on the outside now! :evil:

The one on the German websight is pretty good value, just been looking through thier other stuff, rear LED lights are 495 euros and xenons with the LED's are 785 euros, that is alot cheaper than i have seen anywhere else

Don't forget to make sure you're getting RHD LEDs not LHD LEDs. The reverse light and fog lamp are opposite. :smiley:

Just shout at them. It'd be a pretty poor show if they couldn't speak English.

I had one of those some time ago, picked it up on another forum brand new for £30 and sold it for a little bit more :grin:
The only downside with that knob is that the stitching doesn't match the GTIs red and it isn't a straight forward swap to change the gaitors over thanks to the thickness of the knob base being different (ooooer Missus).
It'd be okay for a GTD I guess, but then again the golfball is the iconic GTI knob ...
