Hi updated avg and has just come up stating that firefox is taking up 399mb of memory usage and told me to close and reopen to speed it up.
Does firefox take up alot of computer memory and is there a better browser? quicker? less memory usage? but NOT internet explorer lol
Thanks :afro:

Ye right pain in the arse. Wouldn't mind if I had loads of pages or tabs open lol. Bit annoying when u have forum and eBay open lol.
-
Cache. Clear it.
-
Chrome is much better imo  Its faster too!
-
I prefer Chrome, but that's because I sync my bookmarks and saved passwords/usernames seamlessly across my Work PC/Work laptop/Home PC/Home Laptop and any other machine that runs Chrome/ium, including the in-laws and my mothers - makes life much easier for me and my gazillion bookmarks I've collected for the last 10+ years or so.

I am pretty sure you can do this in Firefox too.
Tools > Set up sync

Yeah, maybe now but not when I migrated to Chrome back then, that sort of thing required the Google Toolbar (which I did use to sync between FF and IE across my work/home device, I now no longer need the toolbar as I use Chrome and use IE for certain tasks only at work) or other sync toolbar/add-ons from other companies which I don't trust as much as Google (that's not to say I implicitly trust them, but more so than other smaller companies with less security). I'm happy with Chrome, it's fast, sync's my sh!t, it's automatically updated for me and lets me browse the web.

i mainly use IE... but do prefer Opera
-
chrome.. i'm sure there have been threads like this before
-
I was a firefox man but chrome all the way now. I do find chrome is just better at 'hiding' memory usage though, seems to use as much as firefox imo.
-
IE9. Does what it needs to do.
Nuff said.

I thought this. Chrome will get all your firefox bookmarks and is much snappier.

Chrome FTW
Shame I don't have admin rights in work to install it  Stuck using IE

I wouldnt reinstall it now... took me long enough to get back to ie8. Microsoft a little like apple in that respect, always pushing you forwards trying to complicate things :undecided:

Damn right Jay. Portable Apps are the way around that.
I've introduced about half my department to it, so there's now a load of us using it to get around the fact that the default browser at work is IE (7!)
Personally I use Firefox, both portable version at work (http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable (http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable)) and the proper version at home (although I also have Chrome at home).
I did switch to Chrome for a while and although it loaded quicker, I found I didn't like the interface as much and didn't like the lack of options in the preferences/setup menu.
-
just dl chrome and seems 100x faser than firefox. So atm happy days
Just one question how do the apps work? I dl a calculator but how do i open it if i want to use it?
Thanks

There are other ways around software blocks, but if I told you....
I'd have to format your hard drive
-
Not my hard drive to worry about!!
I can't even defrag the hard drive   let alone install a decent bit of software
-
I could tell you how to get around that, but then if they found out what you'd done *bye* *bye* :lipsrsealed:

I have dropped hints that something needs to be done as the damn thing is running so slow  It's only got 1gig of ram FFS!!

Do you have an IT guy(s) or not? If you do keep nagging, it will get done soon enough - or you'll get told to stop hassling him

IT is handled by an outside company but there is a lad who is the go-between. He knows a bit but I'll wear him down
-
Keep nagging him them, he'll give you their number and tell you to call them directly for all your problems
-
Lovin' the new Chrome update with the Apps page/tab.
-
Chrome installed itself with the latest version of iTunes I've just put on my PC, might give it a go later and report back. Firefox has got very bloated lately. The Android version is awful too
-
Android version of FF? I was going to give it ago... :undecided:
-
Yeah it's not good Jay. Give it a go though and see what you think, it was just a lot slower than even the standard internet app on my SGS
-
Netscape v1 FTW!

Worked OK on my Defy and on this Galaxy SII it seems reasonably chirpy.

probably just my phone then
