Hi guys, had my GTI in the dealership recently for a service and to ask them to check the chirping noise it's making. The noise is a high pitched chirp that varies with engine speed (as the RPMs go up the rate of chirps increases accordingly).
From everything I've read on here this is the typical timing belt tensioner issue but the dealership say it's the auxiliary belt and tensioner that needs replacing. Is there any chance this is right - all the videos and recordings I've heard of the cam tensioner issue don't seem to have the chirps increasing with engine speed.
Is there anyone who had the cam tensioner replaced under warranty who can confirm the chirps got faster as the engine speed got faster?

Does it sound like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53owar8YGE0

The very loud squeak but not the sound when the camera zooms out, and mine gets faster as the engine speed gets faster and I've not found any clips on youtube where that happens.
