Title: Valve Guide Replacement
Post by: calum91 on 16 October 2011, 19:04: I own a 2.0 Golf Mk3 16v ABF. Recently started an engine rebuild and when i removed the valves (with some difficulty), bits of the valve guides were scraped off in the process.

Is it possible and relatively easy to replace these?

That will not work with replacing the guides :smiley:

Ha ha true i didn't read the op properly i thought it was just valves themselves but still if your gunna do the valves will need one :smiley:

Think it needs done? I was hoping it would be cheaper. I think it was some of the valve guides that was stripped by the collet grooves in the valve.

got be cheaper to buy a recon head?

But not all valves may need doing. I did exhaust valves only as they are usually the worst ones. Or you could join CGTI (paid member) and go for a shed head at a good price. Thats with a port and polish too.
