Ok I have just bought a 2000 Golf GTI 1.8T and I'm wondering how I would tell if it is drive by wire or throttle cable???
-
easy, throttle housing on the intake manifold will have a cable which if you follow will go all the way to your 'go' pedal

and if there is no cable it is DBW lol

on a 2000 model it will probably be a cable throttle tho.
Woo Hoo 100 posts

Yes it will be...

Drive by wire cuts the throttle if you left foot brake plus I find theres a delay to throttle input so a cable would be better on mine!!
