Sold the ol' boy today
Time for pastures new for me, I'm picking up my EP3 Honda Civic Type R on Sunday. I will pop in time to time as I've visited here daily, the best MK4 Forum around IMO without a doubt, so a big thanks to those who've always been on quick fire response to my daft questions and for generally being top friendly dudes :)
I will miss my MK4 a lot now it's gone, despite the niggles we're all so used to!
I believe a few people may know the owner of it now (or at least his brother) so who knows it may still get put up on here or other MK4 forums :)
Catch you all later

lol I was aiming for a bit of performance, handling and reliability :D
A chap called Chris with a black golf V83 ECK or similar, his brother has had it :)
I dropped the price a lot because it had to go, I wasn't in a rush until this week. Will miss it though it's been pretty good really and I loved how it soaked up the miles, fantastic engine! I was thinking MK5 GTI but...so little goes wrong on the Honda's compared to the VAG stuff, so a simple life will do for now.
Will keep popping on see whats occuring!

You should have kept the green monster and got rid of the APR chip and got a decent custom map setup.... The IMO you would have maybe kept it a tad longer...
Watch this space..

APR chip was only around 25lbft over stock but would taper off close to stock bhp, The chip was no good for an old actuator, the APR map was produced around 11 years back when the car was new and lots of actuator preload,
The new owner now has a HUGE grin..

DOH!

Aw poor dave

When I took it to R-Tech for a health check and 007p, when put on the rollers with the APR stage one map for 95 ron fuel it ran 175BHP and 204lbft at the fly. Nick told me there was nothing up with the car, hoses nor map, just the map was a modest one and the car was hitting everything it requested. If it was running significantly less this time then I dunno what was up lol
I was tempted to have an R-Tech map on when Nick plotted one of his maps on a standard car with a stage one map over my own RR run but it was such a reliable good engine I kinda wasn't too fussed about 15 more BHP with the milage going up and everything.
I have more power than that anyway now and a much quicker car which is far more capable on the bends and am real happy with my new car but the Golf was a good one and I'm sure Matt will be pleased with it, especially with more powah now :D I think if it was on much less milage I'd have had a ko3s, TIP and a stage one R-Tech map on there.

Its a rocket now, the guy is over the moon. I knew it was your car as soon as it pulled up,
Did you notice the power loss since last time? or did you change the settings via the cruise control?
-
No mate didn't really notice anything, although to be fair I pootled around in it before I got rid as I didn't wanna break it.
The cruise control wasn't working properly since I snapped my clutch pedal well before visiting you in March, changed nowt really just drove it and kept it well serviced lol. Matt was aware with any problems on it, but didn't notice any power loss, would have thought I'd have noticed 20 brake down.
Glad he's happy though, tis a good car despite the milage and he's a sound guy so it's all win :) His bro said he knew you and had used you on his black Golf as well so it's nice and nearby to you guys for fettling now.
-
i now own this car and have done for a few months! changed a few minor things on it. and it will be heading to R-Tech soon to have a good check over and to ask on ideas for more power. :D
-
When Matt had it up for sale I was tempted to have it back, I've had a Civic Type R since I sold the Golf and it's been a pain! lol quicker car but I miss a bit of boost, probably moving on to a Focus ST next.
Can tell you all the bits I did when I had it if you wanna know more about it fella, spent a lot on it! :)
-
i would love to know what you did to it. theres loads of receipts ect. i have been tempted to sell lately as i have been tempted by a few other cars. but i kniow ill miss it. ill get some pictures taken of how it stands tomorrow mate :D
-
I spent over 2k on it fella you'll have most of the receipts if you're lucky :) A lot of it was maintenance really and exhaust, clutch conversion etc but I want my cars run spot on so aren't afraid to spend (Civic has had 3k in about 16 months! lol), was a good car all things considered, miss it a bit :) Should do you well, it seems to just soak up the miles like mad!
-
random one this
stokie dave shout outs all the time on gaz fracus's dimension fm show years back?
-
LOL! Not all that many but yeah I used listen to it and had a bit do with people from there :)
-
i guess you had a diffrent exhaust as it had a milltek put on it last year when matt had it and the decat. i do have alot of receipts for it. its done 168k now, and looks like matt had it mapped at R tech as had a APR map on it when you had it? ive done around 3-4k in it since owning it and believe me i drive it hard all the time. i used to have a 3door turbo jazz blue one and i drove that the same, this is on the money with power though. im going to be putting coilovers on and a ko3s and FMIC and then go back for some more power to nick @ R Tech. :D
