Title: Cupra R
Post by: MK3GTI_16Valve on 15 October 2011, 00:53
Hi all

Have the mk3 now for 6 years and time to move on...want a seat Leon cupra r....have a 10 month old, Leon has the 5 door, looks under stated and goes like stink....

Only prob is and u prob won't believe this....

There isn't one for sale i'n the whole country (Ireland).

Been searching for a while one or two pop up but not for long...

Need to sell my two golfs first but a bit annoyed the fact there's no options out there for this car here...

I know theres loads for sale on rvau and piston heads etc but the tax to bring them i'n is a killer

Bit of a rant but just frustrated that I can't buy the car I want when there's plenty across the water for sale

Brian

Well you only have your grandad to blame, you would still have the pound and be able to buy a seat cupra r

Leon Cupra Rs are few and far between in Ireland and most people who own one are holding on them  :undecided: There's a decent one for sale just north of the border, you'll save on the trip to England but still have to pay VRT  :undecided: Robbie was selling his Cupra R a few weeks ago but it's highly modified, 300+ bhp kinda thing, so might not be suitable.

The vrt is 2400 on a 2005 cupra with 60k on the clock...by the time you factor i'n travel and insurance etc prob not worth the trip....be doing very well to bring one for around 7k...

I'll keep an eye....have to sell my own car first

Ya no problem getting the mk4, popular car....have only been driving golfs for the last 6 years so looking to change....like the idea of starting at 225 bhp from standard as I know the car was designed from day one to handle it....don't really want to modify too much much...know the stage one would bring around the 200 mark...by the time I pay for remap, travel etc and the mk4 I'd prob have the cupra

If u want a 225 then its either cupra r or s3 tbh I'd get a pre face lift s3 for same price as a cupra r and it will be cheaper on tax if u get 1 pre 2002.

Tax system for cars pre 2008 are based on engine cc...was the Audi 1.8t aswell? If it is then tax will be the same...looked at the Audi and the 4 wheel drive was a bonus....liked the 4 door aspect of the Leon...kids etc

Exactly.....also trying to insure cars i'n Ireland that are modified is a nightmare, companies tend to run a mile...not many options...lcr unmodded would be nice..
