Hi all,
I think I found my car..
Its a 08 gti dsg.
What checks do i need to do on the DSG?
Also there is a small bit of surface rust on one of the arches, down where it meets the sill..
Its Full leather,
MFSW
Highline
Standard twisty controlled climate control..
And thats about it.
I will be adding
tinted rear lights,
possibly Xenons
stage 1
some form of lowering (suggestions most welcomed :))
and exhaust and intake
so if youve got any of the above parts PM me :)
Also let me know what to look for or look out for before i drop the cash on this car..
How do you know if it has real or fake pescara's?
thanks all...

you cant just add xenons, search the forum, very costly to do legally!

.............there is a small bit of surface rust on one of the arches, down where it meets the sill..
Check the front arches carefully; corrosion is a known problem. There are other threads on this forum where owners have had issues with rust on the front wings - usual places are at the top of the wheel arch caused by the plastic liner rubbing against the inner edge of the wheel arch flange, plus at the point you describe. Should be a warranty job, although some owners have experienced problems with
VW in getting these repairs done under warranty.

wheels...genuine usually have a known stamp on the inner lip or back of the spokes...Same goes for Monzas: BBS or Ronal from memory. Also look for loads of lead weights trying to balance the bad/cheap fakes
-
other thing is to look for cambelt change dependent on the miles...anything above 55,000 - handbook and VW UK servicing schedules do differ tho.
DV valve can be an issue
Air Con
Rear upper brake light
and loads of other minor issues...have a lurk on the MK5 section reading past issues will help

Thanks for your replies..
All things to look out for added to my list :)
