He started off as Ricky Gervais' stooge.

Now it appears that Gervais has decided he can just tell Karl to go and do things and it'll still be funny.

Its entertaining, couldnt give two f**ks about what he is like in real life and that he is actually really clever blah blah blah. He makes a show, it makes me laugh... end of
