Hello people,
I hope some of you can help me, I am going to purchase a golf Mrk 6 GTD in January. and am wondering what would be better to do... remap or a tuning box?
if anyone could help me with advise on where to have it done and everything just so I can learn a bit more about what's involved and what the benefits are?
Many thanks Tom

Remap
Latest GTD ECU's are encrypted so I doubt a tuning box would work :undecided:
If you are near Manchester then speak to one of our forum sponsors, Carbon Chip Tuning. Craig (the owner) has a MK6 GTD himself and that goes very well indeed

Great thanks Rhyso,

im in London mate there must be a few places down this way i can do it?Thanks

IMHO to get the best all around performance and results results from your car you really need to get your ecu software remapped, I would only use a tuing box if there was not a software option.
The mk6 is not an ecu we are working on yet so I dont know too much about them, but the guy to speak to is Craig at carbon chip tuning who like Rhyso says owns one and has been fine tuning & developing maps for power and MPG..

Where in London?

Here's a graph of Craig's own car

I've personally driven it too and all I can say is, quite simply, its AWESOME  and how the car should have left the factory
Not too sure of many places in London but if you speak to Craig they do offer a mobile service :afro:

Thank you very much RTechUK
and AlanD i live in sunbury do you know?
Thanks Physo for the graph

Your not a million miles away from me. I use a local VAG place in Croydon (see my sig) where I live. However I didnt use for my remaping services (had R-Tech do that). Tuning Wereks are a Revo dealer but as Rhyso said have a word with Craig as it could be worth using their mobile services. I have no idea what the Revo GTD map is like or even if they do one . .

Go for a treck up north and get your car on the dyno, it will make for a good day out and a huge grin on the way home, you will find many local places willing to remap your car, on your drive at there workshop ect but 99.95 will use a generic map made up by a desktop tuner just adding extra % to all the maps, yer they do the job but vs a map which has had many hours development on the tuners own car its going to be night and day imo.

Thanks all for the compliments tuning folks
Yes I have a GTD, I bought it because most of the other VW tuning companies bought a GTso for R&D so I thought I'd be different and carve myself a niche in the GTD remapping sector.
I have a great remap for your car and as stated in the above posts most companies can write you a decent remap but with me living with a 2011MY GTD and fine tuning it to the finest degree I do like to think it's one of the best available.
Here are a few links to cars with your engine we've mapped and comments on them.

Regards the tuning box method, they work but never to the degree that the remap will ;-)
