Asfor im at that stage of buying my qpeng for my 20vt mk1 golf and the turbo is easy to get to
would anyone recomend upgrading from a ko3 turbo to a ko3s and whats the diffrence in power
dont forget with a ko3 and qpeng's stand alone il be puttin out roughly 200bhp
Also does anyone on here know of a company that sell reconned turbos
-
I nearly passed out reading this...
-
i feel like this

http://www.qpeng.com/

Aha it that a good thing
-
erm... 12?
-
k03 200bhp max k03s 240bhp max. Is it worth it? Yes it is.
-
sweet
Any recomened places to buy a ko3s turbo from
-
why not ko4?
-
just buy a cheap one and get a company to recon it for you mate atleast then you know its sweet..
And to above k04 will require a completely different downpipe and are more expensive to buy as 240bhp will be more than enough in his car lol
-
Ko4 are not a direct fit and would involve inturnal work if they did
tech i think that will be the more exspensive way of going about things but i can see were your
coming from...if i could find a recon ko3s for roughly £250 id grab it with both hands

Wrong. K04-001 does not require internal work
-
I know someone with a AUG with a k04 running 350hp with standard internals. in a mk2
best 1/4 mile was 12.something launching in 2nd
-
Adam this is only from what i have been told
tweed that sounds epic i would love to even be able to clear up a 13second
quater mile
i think il stick to upgrading to a ko3s and have it all set up properly
just gota find a turbo now

I was about to say KO4 doesn't need any internal upgrades

What K04 00? 350 hp seems high for K04? I'm changing my turbo next year for a much much bigger unit and that will see me with 350 - 400 Hp
anyhow, 200 bhp will be more than enough.. 200 is enough in a mk3 never mind anything lighter. So on this basis, a K03s is gonna be lethal

Thought about the rods? Aren't they a weak spot on a high power 1.8T?
-
F17bad are you talkin garret
and i get it ko4 doesent need inturnal work
im goin to stick with buyin a ko3s and next year fit a lsd made by peloquin
-
hes a friend of my freind. I met him at e38 this year.
had some pretty insane vids too
-
A KO4-001 is the same housing as a ko3s, but can produce 260-270hp.
Direct fit for 1.8t.
-
I didnt think ko4 was a direct fit

Yeah those figures seem more like it, i didn't know they fitted the 1.8T tho without any other modifications (the Ko4 001)
mine is a K04 023 and deffo won't
@travlsreeve, yea thats what we are planning. Im having the manifolds made up by the people that made my downpipe.
A K03s will be more than enough on yours mate, it will be lethal..
Im also going down thew LSD route too. not sure which one to go for just yet tho

All other ko4's require downpipes, lines and manifold.
Im putting a 023 compressor wheel in my 001 though. Will be the same, minus hassle.

sweet mate that should be a rather fun mk3 to drive
im just guna stick to a ko3s as its direct fit and wont be to much for my engine
