Enjoy doing everything before anyone else without an iPhone (like video calling, wish I could do that on my N95 about a million years ago) and having the
limited COUNTLESS features that admittedly just work between the Mac and iBone.
Remember, you can do absolutely everything and anything and it all just works.
Until you put it down and realise it doesn't actually do much and you were caught up "on that hypeting".
Yo'.

iOS 5 out in a few days, we get a Blackberry style messenger for free (currently using whats app which is awesome). We can talk even more crap and send silly photos to each other :D
:edit: Just reread that last sentence and it sounds a bit wrong :embarassed:

Realise how much easier Windows is to use  Never used a Mac before but its not a great first impression :undecided: Some things I take for granted in windows (like renaming a folder I've created) I can't find the option for
iPhone - possibly the best built phone I've held in my hand in terms of construction. Touch screen is excellent. As for the OS, haven't had much chance to play with it as its a company phone so can't do much lol

Pick up some hand sanitizer on your way home and you'll be fine  just apply copious amounts every hour or so and you'll make it ! Have faith!

Working for a hire company so has a workshop next to the office; plenty of swarfega to clean my hands with

if you think whatsapp is a good messenger then you need to get out more alan
its absolute dribble in comparison to bbm

What wrong with a text or call these days?
*I use Viber and HeyTell
-
Some things I take for granted in windows (like renaming a folder I've created) I can't find the option for
Just hit enter on your folder or file and type in a new name. It wont open said file / folder like windows does.
-
Either that or just click file, get info & change the name there but you should just be able to clicl on the name the exact same as windows & change it.

Thanks for that :afro:

The last tip only seems to work if I name the folder immediately after creating it. Otherwise its the Get Info route :undecided:
I'll get used to it one day.......

I have a BB Bold as a work phone and use BBM quiet often. I cant see what your on about? Its exactly the same as BBM just easier as its all touch screen and I don't have to use the sh!t little movement pad on the Blackberry. I fail to see any difference between the 2 expect Whats App looks much nicer as you can customize it with backgrounds.

I find whatsapp doesnt deliver the msgs until way after they are sent... and sometimes not at all. I have the BB9900 with touchscreen so makes no difference what so ever. The general look and feel of bbm is superior to whatsapp i find.... nothing seems to be customizable on mine :undecided:

Ah, your you're using Whatsapp on a BB, it's different on Android/iPhones.

This one must be ancient then (MacBook 2.1?) because a double tap on the touch pad does fcuk all...........

that probably explains a few things then.... :undecided:
I wonder if bb deliberately make it inefficient due to bbm :lipsrsealed:

BBM's down anyway  time to fall back too Whatsapp, HeyTell and Viber

Mac OS X
Version 10.4.11
Processor: 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1 gb of 667Mhz Ram
Model Name - MacBook
Model Identifier - MacBook 2.1

Ancient then

Proabably a 2006 model so indeed no multi touch pad. Shame. Should still run OK but would benefit from being upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Seems to run fine; only using it to re-size some photo's I've taken of the plant equipment. It belongs to one of the directors so no idea if she'll be upgrading it :undecided:

Why would anybody bother using BBM, Viber or Whatsapp when the majority of contracts come with unlimited free texts? Absolutely pointless.
Only thing they seem useful for is organising riots.

It's a cliqué thing
-
That was my argument too Nige, but people insist on using using these other apps. They good for low tarrif/PAYG people, but most people I know are on contracts! HeyTell is quite neat though, it's like sending a voice text (send it when you have internet access and the other person receives it instantly if they have internet access or as soon as they do), so if you're very lazy just send one of those instead of typing it or speaking to your phone "Text Nige These apps are sh!t" and hoping that it gets it right and not redoing it or it deciding to send it to someone else if you have a cold
-
Would I be correct in saying the BBM is free and doesn't use up any of your data allowance, whereas the other ones do?

Love that the Apple junkies already have you upgrading this and that and the other.
I thought that Macs didn't need all these patches and updates.

A completely new OS is a bit more than a patch or update

Pah - it's only a point update. Can't be that significant, can it?

I use whatapp for group chats, also sending funny pics and videos for free. Handy for that!

Whats App must be fuming as iOS5 brings a built in messenger that EVERYONE will have effectively making Whats App redundant . . ?

Except people with non-iOS phones, segmenting the messaging market, again. Which the millions of apps available have already done.

iMessage works on the iPad as well right?

yeh you need to press CMD and O to open stuff.
I transitioned from MS-DOS to Windows to OS X and the transition can be quite jarring from Windows to OS X and it took me around 2 weeks to fully understand what the heck was going on. Lots of google searches like "how do you uninstall programs in OSX" and "Why can I only resize OS X windows by dragging the bottom right hand corner"
Once you get used to the interface it's usable.
-
Once you get used to the interface it's usable.
Wow. That is possibly the most damning thign I've seen written about OSX.
I'm sure the Apple User Experience team must be delighted with this sort of assessment.
-
Well I can't gush over OS X as it has some strange design choices and complete lack of transparency. Case in point. Screen Capture.
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/screencapturemac/ht/macscreenshot.htm
What's wrong with a button on the keyboard that say's Print Screen?

Oh dear.......been playing a bit more with the iPhone and urm.....i like it :lipsrsealed:
Not totally convinced by the OS but in terms of how its screwed together its way above most phones ive used.
So the question is........is there an Android equivalent thats as well screwed together

:lipsrsealed: Thats around the same ages as my one, except with the better processor (and prefer it to my work PC which is i5 4gb ram etc...) but does need to be replaced for a newer mac i think. This will get a 1TB hard drive installed in it and then be used as a server

Problem is you need to format it with Apple's journaled FS - which Windows doesn't do and can't do without third party software. So unless you have a Mac you can't do.
Chicken and eggs...

Yeah, TransMac will do it to from Windows. But who wants to run an inferior OS anyway?

^^^^ this mainly. Ive gone past the days of tinkering. I just want something that works out of the box and not having to beta test some geeky teenagers latest app to get it to work with the phone ive chosen
-
My wife (who is in NO way technical) has no issues with Android... Facebook and the games she wants run on her phone, it texts, it calls, it has a web browser. The Android is for geeks issue died around the time 1.6 was released. A long time ago.
-
It's all just to preference nowadays, I just prefer the iPhone works maybe I'm just stuck in my apple ways
-
I love my galaxy s2 but one thing coming from an iPhone is the quality of build I miss.

yeah, i thought it sounded dodgy from the tutorial. To be honest most games are pretty cheap on the app store and if you enjoy the game, why not show your appreciation and pay for it?
