I have got two new interior covers with plastic lugs for the side mirrors on Mk2 GTI but how do they fix to the car? There are two round holes where the lugs should fit but the lugs are too small. Should there be something in the door to take the lugs?
-
Are they manual or electric controls?
If you mean you have the round knobs for the end of the manual stocks, there is also a black rubber 'bellow' that seats around the hole in the door card to make it look neat. I dont have a picture to hand im afraid, perhaps someone else has...

Rob Thanks but its not the control its just the triangle shaped interior cover that fits over the interior panel where the mirror is fixed.

Ahh, that makes sense! Yeah as above, there is a grommit in the two holes in the door

Guys, thanks I thought there should be something there. I'll try to pick some up

Dealers sell them and only a few pennys each...
-
Thanks, I'll head off to my VAG tomorrow
-
Just picked them up from VAG thanks guys
-
Go on - how much???
-
45pence each!!
-
Not a fortune then - but not cheap for a little bung!!

Did the job so not complaining. Really surprised the dealers still did them. The kind of thing I thought would have gone off the stock list a long time ago, unless they are used elsewhere.

It's amazing what crap the dealers can get.. but when you need really important stuff - They don't do them anymore... Try and figure!!
I knew they were still available, as I got some last year and as you say they seem to fit other models too..

Its amazing the amount of parts they continue to use on other models.
