Title: vw radiators
Post by: mar_k on 09 October 2011, 15:35
are they all made of chocolate or is it just mk4 golf radiators?

the inlaws mk4, my dads mk4 and my mk4 all have leaking radiators.

they all seem to be leaking on the same side aswell, drivers side.

is this a known problem or are we just unlucky?

ive had my golf for 2 years and been on here 2.5 years and dont think ive only ever heard of one person needing a new radiator

so could either be me having a useless memory, or you just being unlucky.

I had to replace the radiator on my MK4 when I first got it as it had a small leak was only 5 years old with 49K on it at the time.

In my experiance, the MK4 was the worse built car out of the MK1-MK5.

Had a couple of MK4's, low mileage and just shocking electrics etc. The MK5 seemed a little better built but even so, 57 plate with barely any miles and needs a new ABS pump.

Have to say, the MK3 seemed the last of the "solid" built VW's. But then, that's the same with every manufacturer IMO, all gone too "buy them, use them for a few years then scrap em".
