now first off, I don't drive hard from cold for obvious reasons, I like my engine :P
....But, I have noticed that it doesn't really like going above 3k revs when starting from cold, I notice it most in the mornings when going to work as I live 2 mins from the m25 so am able to get some speed up quite quickly after start up. Is this normal or is something wrong?
Its a 1.8t, someone mentioned possibly the pcv system playing up but since then I've removed and cleaned all the pipework and fitted a catch can with all new hoses. What else could it be?
cheers

That doesnt sound right to me.Although mine only boosts to 0.5 bar when cold and then shoots up to about 1 bar of boost when warm?? No problem with it reving past 3k though.could possibly be a maf problem though as when my maff went tits up it didnt like reving over that,id try unpluging it and giving it a try when cold :undecided:

hope it isn't the maf, was brand new from vw only 6 months ago
I'll give it a go, the above 3k revs thing might be wrong it may go over, but it definitely starts holding back when it gets there, cant really explain it other than it feels like the turbo doesn't want to boost. I need to get a boost gauge really to see whats going on
I'll try the maf thing first though, cheers :)

you had it scanned? any codes?
-
has a few codes but nothing relating to this issue afaik. The usual codes for a mk3 conversion, theres one for the o2 sensor saying it doesnt heat up fast enough but I put that down do the SAI being deleted. resistors are fitted so there are no codes for that
would that have anything to do with it?

Mine was the same and it was the Maf.
-
I'm gonna be sad if it is the maf :( is there any kind of warranty on genuine VW stuff got from the dealers?
-
There is but not sure how long it is....
Mine was DOA, called them up and they said that they needed the MAF to be on the car so they could test it, so wanting my car I said no chance took it off and called up kicking off eventually got it refunded I got one from GSF for 1/2 the cost.
I was having my car mapped at the time by Carbon (timing was great )
First thing would be to unplug the MAF and see if it is better (when I say better not a slight change, it should transform the car) if it is then its more than likely the MAF

well, probably unrelated but my lambda sensor wiring was knackered so I got a new sensor fitted, then on my way back I took it for a blast to get a feel for the car with a working lambda. got home had a brew then unplugged the maf and took it for another drive, it felt pretty much the same tbh though it was hot when I tried it both times
Would the maf perform differently depending if the engine was hot or cold?
