I want

The Mac Bookair was thin at 17mm, hows about these at 13mm at their thickest points and 3mm at their thinnest (same as MBA)
Hopefully the Asus logo can be peeled off

I read that computer firms couldn't create an ultrabook like the Macbook Air and sell it for similar money so Intel has created a fund where they help PC makers out with extra money to make the ultrabooks.
Which is kind of strange.
-
Looks impressive although I've never been a fan of glossy finished laptops as they look filthy really quickly. Deffo looks like a first real competitor to the Air.

having read the story, it seems that for about the same money as an MBA you are getting less features and worse screen?
Why not get a MBA and install windows on it?
-
Good point Bobo, but when the Zenbook is almost half the thickness (9mm) of the MBA (17mm) I know which I'll choose

When I've contacted Apple it wasn't great and the bloke didn't understand the problem at all and I had to repeat myself loads, poor for UK CS :undecided: my boss found that too, when his 6 month old 3GS died, and the replacement was just as broke.

Not at all, it was a time capsule problem and he didn't seem interested at all from the time he picked up the phone.

A decent review of one of the first & cheaper Ultrabooks

makes a refreshing change when other manufacturers are copying Apple.

The prices are still very similar when you compare them the the Macbook Air. I still haven't seen one that I would buy over the MBA yet.
And alot of them are not even released yet.

Is that the metal Asus one?
I work for an IT disti and just did a big weekend truing sesh. Asus have got some good stuff coming out! The metal ultrabook they do is lovely! Also they've started doing some notebooks with subs underneath them and some with a plug in B and O speaker / sub setup.
Toshiba's ultrabook was nice too! And their 3d / high depth notebook was sweet!
And Acer have got a sweet sweet thing on their high end entertainment laptop - if you plug it in to a tv/ screen - the touchpad pops out and becomes a remote for the notebook!
Some good stuff coming out / about
