If the deal comes off, I've been quoted £400 plus vat - £480 to have the VW bluetooth supplied and fitted into the GTi I'm looking at. The modules going in the dash....does this sound expensive ??
-
Sounds familiar to me, we get charged that by our parts dept that amount for fiscon fitted.
-
Sounds like a rip off to me! I paid £300, source the parts yourself and there are plenty of gents on here that'll help you fit it for a few beer tokens.

I bought mine from eBay. Can't remember the total price but was £150-£200 and took me less than an hour.
You'll just need someone with VCDS to code the Bluetooth to active.

I got mine fitted by Darren also. Found the invoice the other day and it was around £300 inc vat.

Just checked (all off eBay)
VW UHV Premium Bluetooth 5N0035730D RNS 510 iPhone A2DP - 110 Euros delivered
Wiring Loom - 53 Euros Deliver
Microphone £14 delivered
So all in all around £160 for the kit then just my time to fit
-
anyone want to fit a bluetooth kit to my 09 gti ? (will the kit stated above fit my car ?)
-
Whereabouts on our lovely island are you?
-
just outside glasgow
-
Well I was going to offer my help on the fitting but that's a bit far for me!
Plenty of guys in your area might be able to help out.

What radio does the Bluetooth work with? Any of them??
-
Rcd 510 mate. Works a treat
-
Damm I have the basic radio  so annoying as I have just ordered the new iPhone and it seems ashame not to have Bluetooth in the car with that Siri program on it!
-
The OEM bluetooth will work with the basic RCD310 too.

Indeed, but in a limited capacity. The radio will mute for calls and display "PHONE" on the display but that's about it. You'll need the MFD (screen between the speedo and tacho) to look at address book, etc.
The RCD/RNS 510 on the other hand gives you address book on radio screen, dialpad, 6 speed-dial presets... among other things.

Thank god I was got out bidded on eBay for a rcd 510! So all I need is everything mentioned on one of the previous posts?
-
Paid £175 for the latest G model off ebay with all cables and foam to work with an RCD510. Defo not worth £400 odd quid. Fit it yourself then get someone to code it in.

It won't work with the Siri anyway mate, the voice control only works on the bluetooth module itself not the phone.

Damm, then not much point in getting it done

I havent tried it but you can disable the voice commands on the bluetooth module. So you may be able talk direct to the phone. The Galaxy S2 has a good built in Vlingo app with does Phone, Text, Navigation, Reads emails and sms out. Just cant get to communicate with it yet. It puts out the sounds via the A2DP, but I cannot get the phone to hear the commands as the daft ones on the VW system get in the way blocking the mic. Working on an android app at the moment to see if I can sort it out.

Need to wait and see how others get on before I get it then
