right as some of you know we have talked about eibach anti roll bars for a while. i took it upon myself to see if i could sort out a group buy discount. got in touch with the main man at eibach uk and didn't hear anything for a while.......
....today i got an email saying that as importers/distributors they do not do sell direct but have arranged with demon tweaks to give us a group discount. got the guys name at demon tweaks who is aware of this deal so what i want from you lot is a list as soon as possible for who would be interested in a group buy. i'd like this before i get in touch with demon tweaks so i have as much info as possible in order to secure a good discount. i'm putting this in this section as i assume it would be easier to get a bulk discount on the same product rather than several different sets.
so add your name to the list!!!

Cool! But I am going to be 100% honest here and say that tonight I looked at a house that I may end up buying. The Mrs was quite keen, and I have a second viewing in a weeks time. As you will appreciate I will need ALLl spare cash for the house buy if it goes ahead.
I am still very interested, it's is just dependent on if the house goes ahead now and timings, hope you understand.

not sure yet, wanted to get a rough idea of how many people wanted them before i negotiated a price. i assume the more people the better the discount. normally they retail for about £230 so bear that in mind.

Golf Anti roll bar prices are as follows
Golf Mk1 - £192.09 + vat = £225.71
Golf Mk2/3 - £195.53 + vat = £229.75
Golf Mk4 - £199.52 + vat = £234.44
These prices are 20% off Eibach retail price.
So as not to alienate mk1 or mk 4 owners i'll do the bulk buy prices on a
combination of sets.
The only problem that i can foresee is that the Mk 1/2/3 arb are not due
with Eibach until July.

the main reason i'm a bit dissapointed is that a quick search online finds sets cheaper than that anyway. and as far as i can see the retail for a mk2 kit is £258 so with 20% off that makes about £206. or if you take the price demon tweaks list on their website of 219.98 take 20% off makes 183.32+ vat = 215.40????????????
i think i'll have to give him a call and work it out a bit more but on the plus side at least the mk1 and mk4 owners can join in if we decide to go for this.

Hey Joe, the last time I looked TSR were doing the kits for £209, with roughly £15 p+p on top, doesn't make it too bad.
IMO Demon Tweeks have always been a bunch of rip-off b'stards, they seem to think they have cornered a market, but alas there are many many different places out there offering better discounts.
Nice one Joe for starting it anyway.

spot on lewy, always thought demon tweeks were expensive compaired to other retailers. I have emailed TSR about some items for my Golf and did put in about arb group discount, hope I don't upset gtijoe by doing this but will let you know when I get a reply

not at all mate, go for it!!! i was just trying to get us a good deal but like you both say i've always found demon tweaks to be expensive. it was eibach who passed me on to them, they're not someone i'd use by choice! :grin:

I spoke to C & R today they have quoted a price of £233 all in on Mk2 eibach anti roll bar kit they also offer 5% discount on a lot of products if you are a member of club GTI.

to be fair big boys toys did mention about delay in being able to deliver them as eibach are unable to supply ARB until around July

^^^ that was what demon tweaks said about there being a delay. i think we might be sh!t out of luck. when i was up at inters i was gonna ask tsr then and there but the only guy talking any sense was clearly not gonna start discussing group buy discounts with me then and there.
keep on at them though. i looked at neuspeed ones as an alternative but their front one is the same price as a whole eibach kit so i wont be going there!!!

OK guys and gals got reply from tsr today
we can get 5% off retail price in other words 229 - 5% = 217.55
the thing is in their website states it is £209 not sure if this it inc VAT
pretty disappointing really
again being told they are not available till Jully

Yeah, their catalogue says £209 aswell, and there is a big header saying that all their prices include VAT.
If they say on the phone that they are £229 plus the vat, then they become liable for prosecution under the trading standards act.
Bloody July, it couldn't come sooner!!

Call me dumb but i dont know what the difference is with these ARB's. Why are they better than standard? Also how many are on a mk2. Ive seen the front lower and the rear but no upper one. What do they do thats so great?

These ARBs are thicker than standard ones , therefore when your chucking your car in to a corner especially at higher speeds the body will roll a lot less .
I managed to get a G60* one from work for nowt ( as some t!t in the stores ordered it wrongly and it ended up being thrown out when they were doing a stock cleansing / clearing session ) It made one hell of a difference
Mk2s Gtis have one on the front and a stiffener rod that's welded to the inner part of the forward facing center 'v' section of the rear arm/axle
( * the G60 front ARB is the same diameter as the eibach front )

You don't, as the Eibach bar is strapped to the under side of the 'V' section and locates ( with longer bolts ) on to the strut lower mounting points
One thing I woiuld add is that if you are fitting one to the rear of a Golf/Vento Mk3 you need to re route the ABS cable on the N/S as it will foul on the ARB :wink:

Just a thought but, a couple of years back i got a metal fabrication yard to just bend up some thicker steel for my Mk2 and then got it powder coated. I gave them my old arb and they just followed the original pattern. As i remember it was eighty quid all done! Maybe times have moved on, but sometimes these things aren't as complex as the modders would have you believe. Anyway, just a suggestion, and I await crucifixion herewith for suggesting a shortcut, rather than parting with an extra hundred quid cos Eibach are better at bending steel than anyone else!

Must admit i thought about getting someone to do that also. Seems allot of money for a bit of metal thats just abit thicker!
