Title: Recommended Tool set
Post by: Splinter on 25 April 2005, 12:35
Just a recommended tool kit for most of the thing's you'll need from 'Halfords Professional' range ...one of the better value items from Halfords! I have a lot of Snap-on / Teng / Britool items, but have been using these at my dads house and have been quite impressed.

There are a few more items you'll obvoiusly need, but this set has most of the essentials, decent ratchet spanners, etc.

In my opionion the quality is very good for the money. I'd also recommend a 6 point socket set though for those rounded 'hex' heads.

£149.99 link here (http://www.halfords.com/opd_product_details.asp?id=16895&type=0&cat=68) but I think they can be on offer quite often in-store.

If you're old tools are knackered or you aint got any, I'd recommend you invest in these. Anyone else got opinions of the Halfords tools or any other brand???

i bought a set of halford professional sockets and ratchet spanners and they are one of the best things i'd spent money on. much better than borrowing stuff everytime you need to do a little job!
also they have blatantly copied snap ons designs but also offer a lifetime warrenty, so i thought that had to be good!

so....do you work for them or something?!

Despite all my reservations, my halfords Pro socket set has been great.  Nothing like the old crap they used to churn out. Only problem- got the driver and allen attachments wet at scrappy when doing a long job and had already started to rust by the time I got it home!  Moral- dry it off sharpish!

Sounds like a big plug from me I know. I actually hate the place, like I hate PC world, Dixons, B&Q, etc. etc, but this is one of the few great value products in there.

...in fact ....about the only decent product I can think of off the top of my head!
