Hi,
I'm trying to change the cam belt on my 1989 16v, I've got the new cam belt and tensioner from VW, and in the haynes manual, it says I need the VW tool '210'.
I have been ringing round everywhere but can't seem to get this tool for love nor money, and the manual says I need it for setting the tension between 13 and 14 on the scale.
What the fcuk does that mean? I have no idea
Any help as always, is much appreciated..
Cheers, Lee

Have you just got a couple of holes in the tensioner that this tool is meant to slot into?
I usually get a couple of drill bits (about an 1/8" dia.) and use a large flat bladed scewdriver bvetween the 2 drill bits.
I have seen the tool for sale on ebay, but have not bothered to buy it as the above method works fine.

Just had a look in the Haynes manual and I see what you mean. Bare with me a few minutes, I'll have a look in the Bentley and see what that says.

There is some better information in there, just going to post it to my website........5 minutes.

I have fixed this link now so that all the diagrams download too.
If it still doesn't work for you, try hitting 'Ctrl' and 'F5' at the same time.

I've found that in a lot of cases the only way to get special tools is to buy them through dealer workshops.
