Lovely sticky leather! Especially in this heat!
-
But I don't like my bony arse on VW Plastic Leather.
So, if there is no more Jacara, the iconic status has been diminished considerably.
Our cloth cars have just plummeted down in value by at least £2000!
Next Bi-Xenons, rear camera, parking sensors, cruise, ACC, sunroof, RNS510 and more will be free.
Used GTIs will eventually available for £1.
Happy days.
-
Asker,
As said above they did this exactly the same with the mk5 at its end of life, (leather standard) did not make the older ones plummit in value until the mk6 came out.
-
Snoops:
When do you think the Mk7 GTI will be available in the UK?
-
I think the mk5 had leather as standard around 12-18 months before the mk6 was introduced.
So if that's the same this time then the mk7 could be out tail end of 2012/early 2013.
GTI summer/late 2013.
Personally I hate leather and will never buy another car with it, even if it is free.
-
I also hate sitting on cow in a car or at home. I'll eat it, though.
-
I think it may well help those of us with Jacara when/if we ever sell.
There are plenty of people like me who won't have leather.
-
As above, only picked up my new GTD on Tuesday from Lee at Cheltenham VW and specifically did not want leather, same when i had my MK5 GTI I was only interested in cloth. Wouldn't have said no to the free bluetooth though as i just had to buy a kit from a member on here.

About Middle of 2013
Is the bluetooth still done by an add on box or have they changed the headunit? (I remember reading this somewere)

^+1. Each to their own and it's very much a personal thing but I don't like leather either and given the choice, would always have cloth (and did!).
Leather;
Advantages; looks good when new and wipes clean.
Disadvantages; hot and sticky in summer, questionable quality of VW leather, goes saggy and creases, scuffs easily - not zip and button-friendly, much of the leather's plastic leather and until now, has been very expensive (would rather have Xenons any day).
Cloth;
Advantages; cool in summer and warm in winter, GTi / GTD cloth-clad seats are much more grippy than slippery leather, iconic design of the Jacara trim looks classy and helps lift the dark interior, more durable and hard wearing.
Disadvantages; none that I can think of.
Really like the Jacara in my GTD - one of the nicest cloth interiors I've had.
-
So that means the Gtd I have ordered 6 months ago will now come with leather?
-
VW must be trying to get rid of stocks of their cheap and nasty
plastic leather.
No way will I ever buy a car with leather as it always looks sh1t eventually.

It's weird, this Golf anti-leather thing that's going on. My leather isnt plastic feeling, or cheap looking. I clean it and condition it every time I detail the car.
The leather is supple, granted not as supple as top end German cars and the Jag XF but it's not as bad a people make out IMO. I bought my car second-hand and would never have paid that much for the option.

I too don't like leather, when ever you pics of Golfs with leather it allways seems to look saggy and worn. It ages the car. The money for leather would be better spent on Xenon's or the sat nav system, much more usefull.
-
VW got it right with the ED30,part leather & cloth. Wins every time.
-
Its funny this threads gone exactly the way the mk5 one did all those years ago. Funny how history just keeps repeating itself

I certainly agree with you should spend your hard earned on something other than leather.....

Jacara is just going on holiday, I'd like to think it's a snowboarding holiday as it's Winter and it's sporty, will be back in time for the Mk7 Launch! Looking more gnarly than ever.
Jacara, I salute you!
Now, where's the bottle opener got too....
-
Not keen on VW leather except the r-tig looks nice in that
-
I think it's about time, any £27000 car should have leather as standard or free option for the non leather crew, never mind a mid sized mid brand car ( that I like a lot by the way ). And bluetooth as it's law. And xenons because I love them.
-
@Steve30: I've seen + felt the leather in a Tiguan and it's the same stuff as in a Golf.
-
Is the bluetooth still done by an add on box or have they changed the headunit? (I remember reading this somewere)
The RNS810 (or whatever it's called) in the Toerag can be done by VCDS...but the RNS510 needs the add on box.
-
Though this was going to be the case as the Edition 35 seems to come with full leather for the UK, and not the half option as per the German cars.
I'm not sure I really want full leather.

@Lee:
If a customer insisted in having Jacara cloth, will VW now reduce the sale price by £2000?
-
@Lee:

No, they'd charge you £5000 to retro fit some new seats.

Turdbars.

I had a customer when in mk5 gt sport the leather became standard he did not want the leather and they fitted cloth for no extra cost which was nice of them ; )
I have not crossed that bridge on gti though
-
Everyone who has seen the Jacara inetrior has commented on how amazing the seats look. I asked if leather would look better. The answer was a definitive: No way. Beat looking seats they have ever seen!
Poor sick, cows, killed for no avail!

Never mind the cows, they tasted lovely.

I think you may find its not actually cow leather

No it's free leather.
Mind you, I'm not sure what sort of animal a 'free' is :undecided:

Leather.
Scalding and sticky this week - freezing cold next week
(Depending where you live of course)

I think it is a shame and a mistake that VW have stopped the supply of the GTI with Jacara.
Don't care what they do with the other models.
-
Jacara fabric,
Each to there own, but it should still be a no cost option.

Agreed and adds a touch of class to the cabin
-
Martin:
Just look at the puckering on your driver's seat in your signature and the wearing seat bolsters.
Very classy?
Oh .....
-
Jacara cloth is what adds class to the cabin.
It is iconic and looks very smart.
Black VW leather
-
Every motor magazine review of the Mk6 GTI has totally favoured the Jacara Cloth seats over the leatherette ones.

IMHO
No matter how you dress it up.
No matter what fancy names they call it.
It's tartan, it falls apart and it's sh1t.
Just my 2p's worth

.... So says Mr Plastic Fantastic!
The other stuff you love looks, within a few months, like Hilda Ogden after a 30 year suntan.
Horses for courses.
... And that's my opinion and it is unanimous.
-
Horses for courses.
Agreed but your the one with the blinkers on.
Nobody else in the MK6 section rams their opinions down everyone's throat quite like you do.....
Now be nice, sure put your opinion across but your not the burning bush mate or you'd have ordered a GTD in a modern colour with DSG, xenons and Dynaudio
-
Pot ... Kettle?
At least I did not use the word s..t!
And I was being nice.
Good morning and have a good week.

Now it's 3 against 1.
Cowards.
-
My previous 4 cars [all Alfa's] all had leather and I hated it, hence requesting the cloth which from an appearance and feel is, in my view, superior to leather.

Just a quck side note, car reviewers don't have to try to sell the cars afterwards, and if I'm honest I would have jacara but the thought of selling it scares me. Also im sure I will be told this is not the fact, but do people not ask you all the time "what's with the pattern on the seats", and then you have to spend valuable time explaining in a car enthusiastic way that "that's how they were in the 70s so it's ok", and them saying "oh ok then" and me saying "ok now that's out of the way, let's talk about kissing girls".
Nobody has ever got in any of my cars and said "eeee I don't like your black leather seats"
I do know we don't buy our cars for others, but still.
I'm not having a dig by the way but that's how I would see it happening.
But I'm wrong?
-
Marvellous. 5 cowards!
At least you are brave enough to admit it. The ultimate dichotomy.
Playtime is over.

Back on topic. What a result to getting free leather.
Who in the right mind would want cheap Jerk-ara cloth seats

And to add insult to injury, it's only part leatherette they get off on. Pathetic.
They probably also intend to use their cars as mini cabs.

cow skin is for cow bodies - not car seats.

I see my sarcastic comments have made it to the top of the heap of dung! That's made my morning!
