Hi, am looking advice from your good selves on buying an 07 GTI. Its for sale at £7k, but has 99k miles.
I currently drive a Beemer 330d with over 150k on the clock, but its the miles on the GTI that concern me. Is that too high a mileage to be considering? Its different with diesels because theyre more built for it in a way.
Any views or verdicts please?
Cheers, Jeff.

Seems a bit overpriced.
-
wouldnt be botherd about milage personally.
as long as there serviced and well looked after most engines can go for well over 100k.
however i would say its a bit over priced
-
Hmmmm thanks, will go and have a wee test drive in it, and see if i can beat the guy down in price a bit. Am sure he'll come down a bit to be able to get the sale.

Negotiate on the price first. There's nothing worse than a time waster who drives your car, puts miles on and uses your petrol to not buy it because it's overpriced when they knew this from the start.

lol a very valid point indeed!

Not a bad buy for the money, aim for £6500 if you can.
-
Think about it this way the likely hood is they are motorway miles so has done long journeys and been used well but as said if serviced right it's a sure thing personally I would go lower than 6500

You know what, you can get one for 5 grand you know

A BMW diesel is in a different league to a petrol VW, a petrol VW engine, and gearbox with 100k on it, is a potential liability...
personally, I would look for a Golf with half the mileage, for a little more money, rather than risk that extra price difference money on repairs that may crop up!

I wouldn't say half the milage is a little more money.
