after doing 600miles this weeked to bath then to pod then home to blackpool
my car ws fine for the journey but every so often it would stall when i dipped the clutch, sometimes everytime i tried it for 30mins or so,
i stopped at services etc and it would just not idle at all when i stopped but after going in and starting it back up it was fine for another 100miles or so?

btw its a 1.6 driver

when was it last serviced or had the fuel filter replaced? sounds like something blocked or might even be the ignition/timing but id check the fuel filters first make sure that fuel is flowing freely.

Had something similar.
We had our money on the coil breaking down.

Classic carb icing:
Check both vacuum pipes on the left side of the airbox are plugged in
Check the warm air feed pipe is present and connected to a metal shroud round the exhaust manifold
Check the flap in the front of the airbox opens when the engine is running

oh my god! sum1 else with the same damn problem!!!
its been doing my nut in for ages with my 1.6 Driver.
Ive replaced the Ignition Module, Carb, Coil, and all filters and it still does it, the only thing i think it can be now is either the pre-heater plate in the inlet manifold- this warms the fuel before it goes into the engine, if this does not work then the fuel will chill on heavy acceleration. Then when you slow down the fuel can evaporate?!
Also, it could be the fuel compensating valve, this weakens/richens the fuel when driving, i.e, when on motorway it will automatically weaken the fuel mixture, to compensate the speed and economics. Hence when you slow down it may still be too weak?
Test all your Electrical connections to Carb to see if there is no feed?
Let me know how you get on cause i want to know whats wrong with mine!
