Title: noisy exhaust? 8v, standard.

Hey guys,
Im just wondering how loud all of your mk2 gti's are? Compared to most i see its very loud and is getting abit annoying. The exhaust isnt blowing anywhere and doesn't have any dents etc.....

Is it probably just the baffles wearing in the exhaust?  i have no idea how old it is (clearly isnt very new though!).

an oil change can tone down the exhaust note quite alot.

Just fitted an oem full exhaust system today. Its got a deep tone (like the previous pattern one) on idle. Once warm its very quiet.

Probably just the baffles inside have collapsed. Give the box a whack when its cold and it should give you an idea if that has happened.

mine is very noisy. but thats because it only has one 2 1/4" bore silencer in it.

mine is noisy too mate had a new system fitted as the exhaust place said it was that ! it wasn't then i had the manifold gaskets changed again no real difference.

mine just seems a bit noisy on tick over then rev it and its not half as bad bloody strange

Mine is noisy but its a nice noise :cool:

Deep low note at tick over and just gets better as i floor it.


Go though a tunnel for that extra big grin factor :grin:

Quiet standard exhaust and loud airbox/ induction for me!! My abf is almost silent when idling warm, and when driving gentle sounds tame, but when unleashing the fury she screams like she should. Any 1.0 corsa/fiesta/other sh!te can sound loud via exhaust, but hearing noise from under the hood rather than a 6" tailpipe wins for me anyday.
