Title: Wing Mirrors Wrapped Up For Winter
Post by: KennyGTI on 01 October 2011, 12:30
Well finally got my wing mirrors wrapped! Cost me a whole £30!

I am delighted with them:

Nice work Kenny.

Did you wrap them yourself?

No, place down the road from me does it along with window tinting etc. Took it down this morning and he fitted me in. Enquired about the roof, £100, just not sure it would be OTT??

Kenny, IMO wrapping the roof in black on a white car is totally fabulous. You have to, now that you've wrapped your mirrors. Do it!

If I wrap my mirrors, I'll wrap my roof and vice versa.

God don't tempt me!

Need to browse the net for pictures to see how it looks.

Asker, I remember seeing a red GTI with the black wing mirrors and it looked fantastic! Go for it, if you don't like it simply peel it off.

I'm considering black mirror caps and a black front lip for mine...or maybe a metallic anthracite lip and mirror covers - to match the wheels.
Not sure though...

Kenny: The mirrors look spot on and the roof will too, black and white compliment perfectly. The whole reason white became popular for cars again five or so years ago were the press shots of the early mk5 Golf GTIs with their white paintwork and black noses complimenting each other. There are lots of pics around the net of white GTIs with black roofs. Go for it.

PS. Whats all that wet stuff on the car and on the ground?!!
Love from Sunny Devon

Glen: The anthracite trims would look great if they matched the wheels. As Kenny says, if you're not happy with it you can always peel it off (unless you've painted it, then you can just ebay the painted bits as someone would love them).

Think I will just book my car in to get it done! Can't complain at £100!

Yeah, it's like monsoon weather up here and you lot are getting 30 degrees

How much was it to wrap the mirrors mate?

What the the bulbs in the front, they look loads better than my yellow ones.

Not a fan of black roofs as i think they belong on corsa's and novas.
I was with the vauxhall performance lot the other night.  :embarassed:

I do like the idea of rapping the lower lip spoiler so its similar to the ed35 look and how SteveP looked.

Looks good.

Roof done could look really good too and as you say if you don't like it, remove it.

As my car is black already I thought about carbon fibre covers for the mirrors but they're £70. Likewise the lip spoiler could look good in CF too

I do hope you have a valid excuse for fraternising with the enemy?

If they are as good as they look £70 is a very nice price.  Might have to start a collection of mirror caps to go with my R caps, although changing is very scarey as any mistake means a replacement glass for the mirror....

Jim

I'm certainly relying on them being as good as the pics supplied! That's why I wanted to take my own pics to help out and show the pieces in reality. Covers I've seen for sale are normally a good deal more money than mine as I'm doing them as cheap as possible for the forum. Selling them on ebay won't be as cheap as this!

Everywhere I looked was quoting £100 to wrap my mirror covers, so I bought some used genuine Golf R Covers and saved some cash.

Those carbon ones look very tempting.
