Title: Prob with temp reader dial
Post by: jnufcuk on 29 September 2011, 18:36
Hi recently my temp reader dial has been a bit werid :undecided:

Sometimes it will not even move, other times u turn engine on then it goes to half way other days it will fine?

Should i take the dials out and try and re do the twisty turny thing i did when i added the bora sports facia a while back?

Thanks

Do you mean some journeys it ill will take ages to move up to 90 and other times it will be normal?

Thermostat or temp sender I think. Nothing to do with the dials. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Do the temp sender first. It about 30quid from TPS and easy peasy to fit. The thermastat is cheaper but more fiddly to do. I'm sure there are 'HOW TOs' on here. Because i used them

Temp Sender is right on top the engine. Under the cover. Take old one out. New one in, I got a cheap one off ebay does the job.

No probs. Looks good.

Its odd when i did mine. I did the temp sender. And it made no difference. Managed to convince tps to take it back (no returns of electricals). Bought the thermostat and it was still doing the same thing. So i bought a cheap temp sender off ebay and it stopped. So i ended up doing both.

There is a blue or green temp sender depending on engine. Check it out first.
