Title: New MKVI owner
Post by: mkviken on 29 September 2011, 13:10
hi everyone.

I live in co durham and i recently bought a new GTI which i pick up tomorrow morning.

candy white 5 door manual with Monza shadow's, with DAB, RCD5100, DynAudio.

really looking forward to picking it up as I have fancied a GTI for ages now and my list of cars were RS focus or the GTI and the golf just won for the practicality/quality side of things.

the car looks great and seems really well made and all the reviews i have read seem to agree with this.

will post pics ASAP

cheers

the salesman is picking me up from home in the morning so i can collect the car. pretty exciting stuff!

already got a pipercross panel filter and wolfsberg autohaus numberplate holders to fit and my first job will be to seal the wheels with poorboys and wax the car when i get it home as I'm tight and wouldn't pay for superguard!

will get some photos up tomorrow night when i get it.

this was the day i bought it though

Nice

Supaguard is not worth the £££ anyways

I used to have Poorboys on my wheels - now have gtechniq C5 sealant - much improved resistance to dirt and eaier to clean

The best colour to have a GTI in I think, looks good.

Just leave the stickers on so you can make the neighbours jealous!!

picked the car up this morning and done 150 miles already!

reall impressed with the quality of the car and how easy it is. there is some really nice low down grunt there to make it easy around town or on the move.

the steering isn't as quick or as sharp as my clio 197 but there is loads of grip there and its very stable and confident.

the only downside has been when i got the car home i noticed a 3" scratch on the drivers side headlight so i took the car straight back to the dealers. they ordered a new headlight straight away which will be fitted next week. i think it was scratched by some dirt when the guy removed the car cover in the handover bay?

anyway overall really pleased with the car and can't wait to get it dirty so i can clean it!

Hope you didn't let them do the valeting for you before you picked it up check it for swirl marks and light scratches , very nice motor, you going to map it?

It was fully valeted. Don't think they would let a brand new car go out dirty.

The paint is perfect. No swirl marks. It was blazing sun yesterday so would have seen any imperfections.

Only problem was the scratched headlight which will be replaced next week.
