Title: Suggestions for a colleague's next car?

My work colleague Alice needs a new car as she's got a 94 Astra that's had it. Her bloke is 6ft 5 so nothing too small. They want a reliable 5-door diesel hatch and their budget is £3500.

Don't forget that her other half is 6ft 5 so a Yaris might be a bit of a squeeze. They're not too worried about speed but they do need to get a yellow labrador in the back!

I would suggest a Golf/Astra/Octavia/Corolla. Any other preferences besides needing to fit a 6ft 5 person into?
