Car is 07 plate full vw history 12 months ago had 32k miles,
now 55k (owned for 3 years)
Just totted up all costs (less tax, petrol and insurance)
Circa £4.5k :embarassed:
Winter tyres and wheels - £520
Big service Inc dsg, cam belt, water pump, mot, brake fluid - £855
Air con condenser , belts etc £1050
Brake pads/disks all-round £280
Wheel bearing, console bushes, small service - £627
Summer tyres - £750
Another wheel bearing, plugs - £310
-
  that is a lot of dosh in 1 year.
-
Some of the spend is down to want I.e winter tyres and choosing premium summer tyres
Pretty much the rest is down to consumables (with mk5's I'd include wheel bearings in this category)
Just goes to show when looking to buy a car how important it is to look at if these extas have been done or likely to need doing - and not just the asking price.
As a guide the costs for the previous 12 months were less than £400
