Title: urgent help needed please

my mates mk2 8v gti gearbox has just let go and he has been told a mk3 2 litre one will fit,but not sure whether it will fit with the mk2 clutch /will it need a mk3 clutch as the one thats in the car is virtually new.any help much apprciated.

both mk2 and mk3 boxes look alike but different codes mk3 (dfq) can't remember the other 1 top of my head . :cool: :smug:

Golf3 020 box has the larger input shaft, so you'd need a different clutch (or the one off the scrapper).

mk3 8v uses same size input shaft as mk2 16v
