Title: HELP! 1999 1.8turbo to a 2002 AUM 1.8turbo????
Post by: karls3abo on 26 September 2011, 20:01
hi there.

previously i had my pride and joy 1999 v plate 1.8t it had the cable type throttle on the turbo and went pretty nice, all round was a really good condition car.

sadly a recovery lorry rear ended me about a month ago due to him being on his phone grrr. i then looked for another mk4 golf so i could swap the coilover kit and alloys across to save me some monies buying new ones. i found a really nice mk4 2002 AUM coded engine for £1400 Bargain in my opinion! my old one cost me £2100! and it is also much better looking body work wise then the old one which i thought would be hard to find!

been reading though and what i can gather my new mk4 should have 180bph?? as apposed to my old one which had 150bph? and also on my new one is the turbo the ko3s?

the main reason i am pondering is because my new mk4 doesnt seem to go as fast as the old 1999 one? it also has a different diverter valve? (this one being a bosch) is that standard?

and also i have noticed a hissing noise with this one when accelerating could this be a boost leak? it sounds like a constant blow off noise at the end of the gear change. i have just bought new turbo hoses and a new intake hose to maybe see if there was a leak?

any thoughts? and am i right in any of this lol..

thanks

Nope Aum is 150bhp same as your old one, 180bhp is AUQ same as mine, some noise from the dv is normal.

Might be best to get it scanned for codes and see what is what.

If you stuck I am not far from you so could scan it if you wish.

AUM has k03s turbo and is 150 bhp in standard form - it will remap bettet than your old AGu with the k03 turbo.

Sounds like the standard recirculating valve may be broken  :undecided:

ahhhh i see!

that's cool i was just worrying that there should be a difference but if they are both or were both 150bhp then not to worry. will replace hosing anyways to make sure there are no leaks,

and thanks where bouts are you in relation from minehead??

i belive aum are only 150 bhp. but could be wrong

not sure if it has the k03 or k03s.

could be a boost leek. had it scanned to see if theres any codes which could tell you why its holding back?
