hi all
i have just had a new rear spring fitted (mk4 130 gt tdi)as it failed its mot due to this spring having a small piece broken of, commom on this car mot tester tells me.
but since the new spring was fitted i have a bad squeak coming from the back when you get in and out and also when you are driving the car.
only had the one spring replaced as the other spring was ok
its sounds like it needs some wd40 to lube some thing but what
i dont want to buy a new spring for the other side in case this does not sort out the noise.
any help would be great

Just spray the springs with a little grease and see if it goes.

+1

thanks for the advice
i have just sprayed the top and bottom of the spring, i will give it all night to work its way in, i will see if that has done the trick in the morning, if not then i may just take it back to the person who fitted the spring and get him to put it back on the ramp and have a good look around to make sure it's alright under there.
i may get him to turn the spring a bit to see if that helps

Yeah just get some lube on your back end!

If it still squeaks then it might be rear beam bushes.

Or top mounts

thanks for the idea's Wayne and Adam
had the car up on ramp and top mounts and beam bushes are ok
it seems to be the rear brakes when the hand brake is on, not sure why they make the noise because i had new disc's and pads fitted about a month a go looks like i will have to live with it for now as they may stop squeaking once they have been used for awhile.
