Title: Technically not a golf question but here goes
Post by: ravydav on 25 September 2011, 17:34
I am starting a project on a very clean low mileage jetta. My question is do doors from last ever mk1 golf citi in south africa(ones with one glass with mirrors at front of door) fit on mk1 jetta or are they bolted up different?

Would like to know as going for full respray and would be annoyed to find out if they didnt go on.

Also would anyone know of specialist importer who can get you stuff like that, as it happens I have a friend who works in south africa time to time so could ask him but it's not that often he goes there.

Any help would be most helpfull.

I would suspect the later shell is a lot different.

4 door Jetta & 5 door Golf have the same doors & don't think they changed anything for the Citi.

Well Google say that you should be OK.  VW sold the tooling to SA and the MK1 Jetta was rebranded the FOX, but retained the MK1 front end ..  So doors should be fine.

Addendum:

Nice build project -

As far as I am aware the only panels that are not the same are wings, and because of this the grille figment is also different.  I believe the doors, tailgate and shell are the same bar some cosmetic changes to the rear of the shell.
