As above how can I able to remove them? I did use wd40 to soak overnight and none work really.
can anyone help me? :undecided:
Blowtorch maybe?

Get them glowing, then they'll come off.
-
Wire bursh to threads first, then crack off the lock nut - you HAVE cracked off the lock nut, haven't you? Then PlusGas on the threads (not WD40 rubbish) Then if it still won't crack off, get the heat on it.
-
I had to use an angle grinder to get mine off. Tried everything!!. Just don't go too deep if you try this method.
-
Heat should sort it but don't go mad.
-
plus gas or halfords own pentrating lubricant is as good as i have been using it both loads better than wd40 which isnt very good at all!

LOL that works for me I use a dremel cutting disc so not to ruin the threads, but usually the first nut comes off first, then the whole tie end should come off easily enough!
-
Add in another one for the heat method! Worked on mine.
-
pure brute force.... easier if its still attached to the car

Or you can replace the whole lot from steering rack for about 25.00. Have done this in the past as threads were fubarred by previous owbers using god know what to to try and remove. Should also be mentioned that it's not best practice to reuse them if they've been heated. Plenty of people do, but the metal properties have changed and are more likely to shear.

Eh , what heat treatment do you think they carry out on these parts that you could affect with a blowtorch and what exactly are you thinking will shear? Personally Ill go with the opinion of "most people" and ignore your advice, well meaning as it may be, it just isnt correct IMO.

I knew someone would jump on that.
I've seen guys in garages heating them up too hot (by this I mean with Oxy not a wee piddly blowtorch), and this results in altering metallurgy which in turn can cause a weakened section of the tie rod. I double checked with a mate (time served and running his own garage for 25+yrs) and he confirmed that as a belt and braces approach, if you've used heat to undo them they should ideally be replaced.
Given that it's a fairly important bit of kit and and they only cost approx £25 to swap per side why take the risk? As previously stated I know most people won't do it but I have, hence my advice. Based on my knowledge and my personal experience. Don't see how that's "incorrect"?

It can make the metal weaker only if over heated..as said for price I'm going to save hastle and replace mine and then protect them for future..
Different people use different ways neither of the above are wrong and iirc steering arms are not even heat treated from factory it costs to much and there is no need really..

I was told the same by my local garage, they advised replacing it after it had been heated.

Here's a basic into as to why ^ this is advisable.

It depends what you use to heat it up

It depends what you use to heat it up
Doesn't matter whether it's heated by flame, or other means, the temperature attained will be empirically the same.
Saying it depends by how much it's heated up would actually make sense.

I like the animation in that

Woah, lot of reply and start argues! Thanks for advices today I went get a blowtorch from Homebase. I heated the tie rod, still seized, I try angle grinder and put on vice to hold, took me nearly 2 hrs to get that f**kin thing off!
Finally I did take tie rod off but think I have runied the nut? :undecided:
Tie rod

Nut look ruined, should stay there or has to be removed too?

That's fubarred mate, in my humble opinion. Needs replaced, euro, GSF or AVS should sort you out.

Lot of fuss about nothing significant on this thread, simply heat the locknut up, give it a good wire brushing to clean the threads, back the nut off, and undo the TRE, if it wont undo, heat it up till it does, the steering arm itself, shouldn't need heating, so any heat transfer will be insignificant, replace TRE and nut with new...
EDIT, A propane blowtorch is unlikely to work, as temps required will not be achieved, Oxy/Acetylene will do the job...

Blow torch wasnt too bad I mange to loosen left tie rod. Haven't got room for Oxy/Acetylene yet!
But I have ruined right tie rod because I use grider too deep and destroy the treads, I try to loosen it did loose but cant take off, Time to find other manual steering then?

Remove the rack boot and you should find the arm unscrews from the rack.

cheer mate I will check and get replacement arm.
