Just came in from angle grinding my wrist. Lovely flesh ripped through and some big blood pool. I hate all that crap so thought wrap it in masking tape but when the blood started pooring it was a bit much.
Now my whole arm is burning, manned up and wiped it with antiseptic wipes but now whimpering like a little girl after getting mummy to tend to it.
What you lot done in the past?
-
The only way you can angle grind your wrist it through improper use so its your own fault.
Hope you had the correct P.P.E on :lipsrsealed:

Completely and utterly my fault. Didn't want to turn this into a slating contest so won't mention why it happened.

Haha Bellend - man up you girl!
Mostly just skinned knuckles and small chunk taken out of fingers etc although I did once suffer regularly from Mini bonnet catch rash, which is you hit your head/neck against a Classic Mini's bonnet catch whilst working under the small confines of its bonnet.
Was looking at a Mini to buy years ago and a very short girl owned it. I pulled the lever to move the seat back and promptly squashed my finger under the seat as her boyfriend had mounted an amp on the crossmember. Worst bit was I couldn't actually pull it out - the gap was only about 2 mm! Eventually half standing up (in a Mini with your finger stuck under the seat is not easy!!) meant that the seat could be moved forward again. Split my nail and blood everywhere. They felt so sorry for me and I didn't get the feeling back in my finger for 2 days! I still bought the car but they knocked more money off as a result!!

I get a new wound nearly everyday, mainly burns from welding,as it happens im nursing an angle grinded wrist right now, great ,got clobbered on the head today by a trolley jack handle ffs ,

Will get a pic when I dare take the wrapping off.
Mini sounds nasty Mr Bounce, hate trapping fingers or smashing them with hammers etc.
Haha Screech, high 5.
@Chuff, in other words sit back and get someone else to do it.....

Moving on.
Lesson learned, use the grinders the right way round even if ya lazy.

It was only yesterday my dad said he didn't want me using the 9" on a car. Bites enough on breeze blocks.
Never had an issue with a grinder before, had just cut a big chunk of dash bar out of a MK3, bites a bit but as you know, hold it correctly and cut gently and it's fine. Had a stupid moment and got the hump, held it the wrong way to get to something and kept my face out the way. Gently gently, wasn't gonna go right through but then it caught on something and jumped at me.
Don't think I acutally want to use the 9" after seeing how much this little thing can kick....

Scrapped my knuckles once

Injured my shoulder once. Was standing under the car and caught the gear box though.

 Or opening the bonnet on the Vauxhell.
Slick, sounds nasty, dull, thudding pain?
-
Worst I had, was when I owned a Renault Megane coupe 2.0 16v. The ones before the big ass one.
I was dropping the bonnet and it slid through my fingers. I was holding it in one hand by the badge. The bonnet has a small nose type pointy bit. Anyway, as it slid through my fingers the edge of the bonnet sliced my right index finger in two, between the first and second knuckle.
Lots of blood and lots of bone on show. The A&E nurse was quite a looker.

No
It was Green Flag

Nothing more than scraped knuckles, small cuts and stuff, and some spec burns on my arms from grinding!
Edit: oh yeah I almost sliced my finger off when removing the if on the window regulator. Plug was really tight, so lots of force and it flew off, and my finger sliced along the sharp rim of the inner door. Ouch - or words to that effect were spoken (shouted)!
In work though, I have been thrown about 8 ft back by a 440v signal lamp that had shorted. Wasn't my equipment so I had a few choice words to the maintainer after I had picked myself out of the puddle of piss and vomit I woke up sat in!
-
just the usual cuts and scrapes although when trying to take out my wooden interior i ended up nearly slicing my finger off (dont ask how)
I thought it was ok at first so carried on then the blood started pooring out, felt fine so washed it and wrapped it up etc till about 5 mins later when i started to feel really faint  so had to have a sit down lol, then got back to work.
Now i try and take a bit more care when doing bits to the car
You have to learn from your mistakes is what i say

got my arm trapped between the arch and the wheel of my mk3 with the full weight of the car on it. The missus and my neighbour were chatting to me at the time and when it happened they just looked at me and did nothing (because i didn't scream or make noise). I had to reach for the jacking arm, turn the screw and jack the car up with my free hand whilst they stood there looking stupid.
-
weld splatter down ear hole
-
Took the skin off of my wrist with a pressure washer and rusty sharp rotten back box fell off from above me and grazed my nose and left me with a black eye.

If you want scraped knuckles then try working on an Audi

a few cuts from cutting speaker cable with a stanley knife, scratched knuckles, the usual stuff
the closet ive come is when i was putting a wheel back on, but the car rolled forward off the jack, as mychands were on top of the wheel, i just moved my hands when the car came down onto the wheel, had the wheel not been there, the car would of hit the floor, or had my hands been there still, i wouldnt of been able to type this now, lol

I have to get in the zone to work with an angle grinder. They're, evil things and have seen a few accidents too, luckily for me in other persons hands. Worst one I saw was a guy using a regular 4.5" grinder with a 2mm cutting disc, in between grinds he turned it off and put it on the floor, nothing unusual about that except he accidently stood on the disc and cracked it slightly. Continued to use it cracked (without realising) the disc hung on for a bit and then let go at full rpm, with shrapnel crash landing up his arm from his wrist up to elbow taking the flesh out as it landed. Chunks of muscle and tendons destroyed and he still can't grip properly 15 years on. He had safety glasses on but otherwise his arms were bare (T Shirt) and hadn't worn gloves.
Gear up or lose a body part or the use of one.
-
Over the years ive sustained a few injuries cause im a cnut for not wearing gear, heres a few
Metal shards in the pupil several times 4.5" + 9" grinders no glasses
Cutting disk injuries, leg,fingers, knuckles
Welding flash to many times ,colliege is a sh!t for striking up with out warning!
welding spatter in the ears, arms, legs ,hair, well what hair i have, chest,oh and ball bag
Burned both arms doing big welds in a tshirt, had gloves on though,it was like really bad sunburn
plasmaing and a blob of molten went in my boot and i couldnt get the boot off,now that was fookin bad,did a rate good dance though
various cuts bruises and black finger nails
Admittidly most of these were boatbuilding related, but i do have a mk3
from now on i am going to be Mr ppe, enough beating myself up!
-
Other than a few cuts and scrapes, pinches and stuff I've been pretty lucky and not suffered anything major.....
A word to the wise though, if you have an open wound never ever use Masking Tape to stem the flow etc. It contains arsenic and if left in contact with the skin long enough will remove all your flesh to the bone. Seen it happen and the guy lost the bottom half of his leg because after a bad cut he wrapped his leg and didnt get it checked out until 8 hours later
-
to extend from my previous post, although ive never had any major accidents/injuries working on my other mates cars, ive never bothered to use PPE, i and hate angle grinders
athough at work, i refuse to do something unless im wearing the correct PPE, i wear steel toe caps 5 days a week, so its comfy trainers on the weekend
-
Ive had a few, mainly burns whilst cleaning oil away from an F3 engine just come in from a race, Crushed my hand in an engine...long story, 1 year on i still have a sore finger and marks :(
-
using a half inch ratchet tightening an engine mount bolt, slipped and wacked my self, split my head open so off to A&E, superglue job no stitches lol.
I was an apprentice, i now tighten pushing away from my face, or i use an impact gun
-
have injured myself loads working on cars throughout the years, usually slipping with the ratchet or similar and punching something pointy.

done that the other week, was using a 1 metre breaker bar and the socket snaped in half, i then punched the floor.
i live in a couldry sack(sp?) so the road has stones inserted into the tarmac. pretty painfull. could see the bone in my finger
-
Some of these are nasty.
Right I must actually be the biggest prick ever.
Just caught me finger with the same grinder. Lucky I was wearing gloves, still stinging like a b!tch though.
