Hi folks,
Was toying with the idea of changing the stereo in my MK2. What I'd like would be an OEM looking tape player - but with good sound output and aux input (would prefer on the front but back of the unit if need be). Not too bothered about abilty to run a sub or amp etc, main thing is the look, sound, and aux. Would probably just be running 2 fronts and 2 rears. Anyone wish suggestions?

old school alpines would probably be the way to go, my first hu was one of these, cant remember the model number but it was awesome for the time (17 years ago now!) and it could be hooked up to anything & everything as i remember. hth!

Why not go ultra retro with a tape player in the normal slot but run a CD player in the glovebox so you can still have some good tunes??
You could also wire up the tape player to light up like normal!

You can get retro stereos with modern internals but their not cheap. An old school pull-out Alpine tape unit should do the trick as a cheaper option.

I'm doing the same in my mk3, just got a gamma head unit, looking for a way to wire the ipod connector in now, it must be possible as its got multichanger controls on it,

I've seen a few OEM one's from different models, just most seem to have CD changer controls as you say, just trying to work out if I can get a cable that terminates in a mini jack so I can plug any type of mp3 player in
